Which mod is better ?

After blocking center and front differential my TLT-1 is quite funny as a backyard basher.
I'm using a poor performance battery so I will replace it soon having greater acceleration
and climbing capabilities. I'm looking for mods too.
I have found the following, which are quite similar and both stretch the wheelbase using longer rods.

http://www.tamiyausa.com/articles/fe...article-id=135
http://www.ripper7racing.com/micros_...s/tlt1_pg1.htm

They are both quite cheap. Can you give some advices on which one is better or about other cheap mods ?
Which is a good tyre diameter for bashing ? And for rock crawling ?

BTW I need to replace my battery charger too. Any suggestions ?

Thank you
Filippo

either of those will essentially be exactly the same, as they don't relocate any of the suspension links.

what you really want to do is triangulate the upper ti-rods to the center of the diff, like right behind the servo mounts on top of the diff, and leave the bottom links set to the outside.

check out www.rccrawler.com forums for some good ideas on how to stretch your truck, I think they also sell kits to do it.

the problem with just putting longer ti-rods on the uppers and setting them to the outside is your truck will suffer from a LOT of torque roll, whenever you hit the throttle the truck will twist over to the side really far.

Yah both are good options.

Using servo/link mounts that are made by quite a few sellers on RCCrawler.com as blind suggest is a good thing.

You can also make your own links using 6/32 all thread and traxxas rod ends. Although you will need to find a dogbone that is the right length for this setup.

You could also use some T-Maxx links and CEN MT dogbones to stretch your truck to about an 11.5" wheelbase.

CEN MT dogbones

Upper Links

Lower Links

Remember you would need 2 of each for the links.

Blind,
I would understand how the links' position (you suggest to triangulate them near the servo plate) can affect the torque roll. I have difficulties trying to find out how to reduce the torque roll and which factor influence it.
The only points I agree with other rock crawling expert are:
1) the more the resistence in the drive train you have the more torque roll you will get.
2) Using stiffer spring on the left rear shock may help.

Thanks
Filippo

The motor that is mounted in the center spins to the left with throttle and this causes the roll, triangulating the upper links to the center of the diff reposition this force to the top of the diff case rather than to the wheels, what that does is enable the entire axle to fight that twist, rather than the left wheels only.

here's a pic of a basic stretched truck with the upper links on the diffs -

this truck has almost zero torque twist at all.
