Ok. Well I know how it is to be on a budget. Go here:

http://www.bakehead.com/minit_mods_page.htm

This works - I have done both (actually all three!) and just thought you might be interested.

Thanks for the link - I just got an ESC from MTronoks. It is their Cirrus competition ESC so no reverse. I have a HS-81MG servo and a 27MHz Futaba RX already. I just now need to fit it in the MiniT.

Will the MiniT Servo Saver directly fit onto the HS-81MG servo?

No. The HS-81mg is much too large for the Losi servo saver - but it is so strong that you really probably don't need a servo saver anyway.

Oh, I almost forgot - look again at that link - you WILL need to mod your chassis for the HS-81mg - either way.

I looked at the link and I am trying to figure out why people go through all that trouble??? Or am I missing something.

What I would like to do is take the stock servo and make it work with a 3 wire setup. I think the stock servo is just fine and I am happy with it. And it is very cheap to replace it. I would like to know how to convert the stock one to work with a regular RX.

Thanks.

I think the reason people are changing other servos to work with the Losi radio system is that the stock servo will not last very long. For some reason it will just stop working unexplicably or become very glitchy and finally go to full throw - and stick - and when you attempt to correct it - you strip the gear train.

You may have the exception. Some do seem to work well and last a long time. Most don't. People never (well hardly ever) want a PROPRIETARY SYSTEM in which you MUST replace item for item in stock manner. Usually leads to high prices and mundane products (look at AMBc - 15 years and still the same and cost more?). People will usually find a BETTER if not CHEAPER way to modify a proprietary system - that's why there are so many parts and dealers!

To answer your second question - the stock Losi servo can NOT be used in another system. Why - because the sending unit for the servo is not included on the circuit board in the servo - it's built into the REC/ESC - hence the 4 wires instead of 3. It just wouldn't be practical or cheap.

Why do people do it? Because it will only cost $24.00 and about an hour of time - AND they'll only do it ONCE. They get to keep the stock electronics and upgrade the servo. A stock servo cost is about half that of the HS-81mg - but you'll put in four or five stock servos to one HS-81mg - that makes it cheaper.

Yeah - I understand and agree - I have seen people post about the mod for three wire conversion and would love to see it done.

I have the HS81MG and going to try and see if I can get it hooked up without the servo saver later this weekend.

I just had a new kit arrive in the mail for a product review I am doing, so I will be spending the evening putting it together.

Hey - I just did the HS-55 and did not get the other fitted because I did not want to modify my chassis. I want to leave it stock.

Cheers!

I installed the losi shocks - I need to use a heavier oil wt next time though. The 20wt that is put out by Losi is way to soft.
