hello. I'm back!

well after getting an e-maxx. I found myself having alot of down time due to 1. rain (which didn't stop me most of the time considering i just fried my esc) 2. and the normal breaking parts

I have been thinking of upgrading my micro to a 540. simply because it's still to slow. espicaly (sp?) compared to my maxx. I want it to be a garage drifter/insane speed run car, by simply changing the pinion.

my goal: make a garage/bedroom drifter + speed runs of 40-60mph, at the lowest cost posible. (pinoin changes ok)

my plain:
1.fix broken parts
2.build a custom chassi out of acrylic (plexiglass).
3. power system will consist of esc, motor, and 7 sub-c batteries.
4. upgrade front shafts to alum.

ouch that already costs $90+
will it be worth it for what I'm looking for? right now i don't really play with it.

sorry to ramble, any advise is good advise.

(This is hopefully going to be part of my x-mis gift, on top of the money to fix my maxx.)

Too make it easier on yourself why dont you just find and 540 conversion kit and start off there......its going to be a lot easier going this route. And the next thing you will have to consider is the drivetrain.......stock parts will not last on the first run at all....stock uni's will be the first to break just by pulling the trigger........its worth it alright, i run mine on 6 2/3a's Gp's......and i can tell you now that, that sucker is fast.......

And welcome back, long time no see.

one word expensive. I have the skill and the tools (finding the time can be hard), and by doing this I can save myself a nice chunk of cash. right?

I said that i was going to upgrade to aluminum universals. the front diff is already upgraded to a front one way. what other things will break.

whats your setup. about how fast dose it go?

BTW it still needs to be able to drift in the house, with out doing 40mph in the living room to break the tires loose (hard wood floors).

Im using the first gen 540chassis with 6gp 2/3a's, front oneway with the hpi diff can, hpi rear balldiff, and the steel uni's.........cant really give you an estimate on the speed.....but this little sucker is fast, now that i can tell you.

Yes i understand that.....im using a LRP Quantum Reverse esc which cost me 60bones back in the day and the motor is an old discontinued reedy motor.......You can use a stock 540 motor which can be had for around 20bones.....and as for the esc any 10th scale esc will do just as long as it will handle the motor.....

The esc's that are out now are actually cheaper then they were back in the day.......made with better tech and somehow the price didnt go up, just made it more affordable......you can probably get a good one for around 40bones....if you need help in searching for them just let me know and i will lend a hand.

thanks

if you could look for some good cheap motors that would be great. I already think I'm going to get the duratrax intellispeed esc. unless there is a better deal out there.

BTW: The $200 isn't going to just this it needs to go to the maxx more.

Just a question to Alfred...

How is your battery fixed to the chassis? Is it detachable?

thanks alfred. I think I'm going to go with this esc
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAXT7&P=7
and a trinity co27 motor. (completely rebuildible which I need concidering I'm never going to let this thing go!)

well I'm going to start plaining the chassis. It needs to fit 7 4,500mah sub-c cells so I'm going to need to be creative.

edit: or this motor http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJBY9&P=0
