Angry Mini T motor problem I think.....

I've just bought a Mini T for my 11 year old nephew, who's interested in getting into RC racing.
We bought the standard Mini T and the salesman recommended a battery pack rather than using AA batteries. Anyway, we've had the Mini T for 3 weeks, and have used it about 8 times, and so far we've had to replace 3 motors! We keep taking it back to the store, and they keep giving us a new motor. We're letting it cool down between runs. not using it for more than about 25 mins at a time, but still, every other time we've used it, we've basically ended up with a motor that won't work. The store haven't really offered us any advice, and we're thinking about getting a refund. We don't really want to do that, as when it's running it fantastic!
Do we have to upgrade the motor? Is the stock motor only ok with AA batteries??

Can anyone offer any advice??

I have found the stock motor to be pretty poor, fast but unreliable. breaks down a lot.

My best recommendation is getting a Graupner 300 and mounting plate, fast and reliable (faster than standard)
