Project: Motor-vated!

Red and Black Take A Power-Motive Step Up

Since the guts are starting to blow out of the Propulse motors I decided it was time to upgrade the power plants in Red and Black. Seemed like a good time to do it since I was installing fresh spur gears and bearings. Upgrading to these motors also demands an upgrade to the wiring and power sources as well.. Deans Ultra Plugs and Intellect 1400's.

Red is now outfitted with a Trinity TRM995 Modified Mini Machine. Short can, super high RPMs..

Black is stuffed with a Reedy 290 Mini-MAX Modified Motor. Long can, lots of torque combined with high RPMs..

Also as mentioned, both have been upgraded with Dean Ultra's and Intellect's. The gear set for both is 13T pinion/54T Spur, providing a nice off-road/loose surface low gear ratio of 4.15:1

(Hey Megatech!! Better be stocking Tower Hobbies with pinions, spurs, bearings and Diffs real soon.. )

These guys are ready to rock and rock hard..

..cheers

Hmm, are you sure? It states 290 on the packaging and the can measures 310mm without the endbell.

Otherwise, there's just a good bit of bashing in store till the electronics start giving up. Then it will be time to perhaps think about esc's and a 2.4Ghz FASST..

Yes its a 280 motor......must be a misprint on the packaging......i run that same motor in my M18. Good, im glad your thinking about getting a new radio......you will find it too be the best hopup there is. So which one are you looking at.

280 size can fits most 1/18 scale vehicles including the Team
Associated RC18B, RC18MT and RC18T
Pre-attached leads with spade type connectors

Tower has a nice deal on the Futaba 3PM 2.4 GHz FASST system which I have seen that a few pro off-road drivers are using. Currently $189 for the TX/RX package.

Re-Mega Motorized

I was able to crank out just a couple runs with the alternate motor configs before issues with the modified motor mounts and pinion gear set screws began happening. Decided to go back to running virtually all Megatech equipment. The only exceptions to this are shocks, wheels, tires and batteries. Everthing else is either original stock, upgrade or modified stock.

Red gets the High Speed motor..

Black gets a fresh High Torque motor..
