Aktion 540 Conversion
I've just received an original Aktion R/C 540 chassis conversion kit for my MRS4 and I'm considering an alternative to going full bore with a standard 540 size motor. I'm curious to see what would happen if I swapped out the stock MRS4 motor plate for a Hardcore Racing big bore motor plate to use with a new Beast Raptor 16T mod motor I picked up last year. I'd still have to use the 4/5 cells on the chassis but that should be fine. I wouldn't have to space out the left rear wheel or grind my 540 motor as I would normally have to do with this kit. Any thoughts on the compromise?

With a 300 size motor you will create to much weight with the 4/5SC cells

Otherwise you can always try to fit a 6 or 7 cell 1200mAh batterypack or a 2 cell lipo pack

That's another option for sure. A 2-cell lipo pack would be nice and light and with the Beast Raptor 16T motor this thing should fly.

Just about any of the li-po packs we recommend on our site will work with the old kit. You just need to lift the pack up 2mm to sit through the belt. Or like Roelof said, you can use a pre-built 2/3A pack, whatever you can fit. Just b/c the chassis has the cutouts for the 4/5SC doesn't mean you have to use them. I've used several different kinds of batteries in the original 540 kit. It was our creative tool for designing the newer kits. So any battery you like, you can pretty much use, but for 300-sized motors, the 4/5SC's are a bit heavy.

Thanks Dan. BTW, is the 3mm axle spacer for the left rear wheel available seperately or should I just shim with washers? I didn't get all the odds and ends with this older chassis kit unfortunately.

You can use washers, or whatever you can find lying around with a 3mm hole in it. I can send you a spacer if you want, shoot me your address and I'll send one out to you.

That sucker looks good.....why go with a speed 300 motor instead of a 540.

I went with the smaller Speed 300 motor for several reasons. I run indoors on a small carpet track and the 540 motor would be too much. I also don't have any 4/5a sized cells and wanted to use the IB1200 packs I already have.
