The easiest way to know your cap is charging is to hook up the battery to the esc.....dont turn on the power to the esc at this point....let it charge the cap for a couple of seconds...disconnect the battery and turn on the power to the esc....you should have heard the servo move a tad....or the light on the esc come on then fade. You also have to remember that im not the one that came up with this.....people have been doing this for a long time now. And please make sure you have the polarities of the cap right.

What esc do you have......this is what i would do....just hook up the battery and let the cap charge for a second or two then disconnect the battery....you should see the light of the esc fade.

Hey, I was thinking about putting a capacitor on my new Spy. Would it cause interference near the receiver and such?

Cool, ty for the info. I'll try to buy a 1,000uF cap, zipties, and electric tape.

supra- when i did mine i put the leads of the cap in the small holes that are on the soldering tabs. it fit right in and worked great. i then bent the cap o where it laid flat ontop of the esc and put a dab of shoegoo on it to hold it in place.

Dont know what else to tell you man. The only way to check if the cap is holding a voltage would be to use a voltmeter.

...would have been better to mount it on the side of your esc, not your receiver. run it direct to your soldering posts using the wire leads off the cap.
