Mario: I think I don't have to say much about what I want to see on the M18.....the last 12 months that I raced my HPI Micro, I realized to make the Micro Competable.....all I need are 3 things.

(1) Big Block or Speed 300 motor
(2) 6 Cells 2/3A Batteries
(3) LOW C.G.

So, if you can forward these information to your X-ray engineer oversea....please have them consider having all these 3 factors on the UPGRADE kit........I think the stock chassis is able to mount 6 2/3A cells (inline) but just cannot fit them into those pre-cut and the batteries mounting piece....all you have to do is mount all 6 on one side and use electric TAPE to tape them up like 12 th scale pan-car.....

Speed 300 motor is no longer then the stock HPI motor, which should be the same as the stock motor that M18 came with, only the Speed 300 motor's diameter is a little bigger....

Saddle pack 6 cells setup is great....but mounting the motor ON TOP of the gear....I don't know about that....again, CENTER GRAVITY.......when I first race my micro, mounting a hand out AMB-it transponder onto my CLK body....my car traction roll on every single turn....with a Spped 300 motor mounting on the center, that will do the same thing.

Thanks for listening.....and looking forward to see this high end 18th scale rocket.

I am not sure mounting the motor on top of the gear will be that big of a disadvantage. It may actually help in transferring some weight to the wheels and create more grip rather than the opposite. I mean by this, there is more to a racing car than just low CG, you will always have some weight transfer and perhaps putting the motor there will help in some way.

I like the motor mounted at the bottom better too, I'm not going to deny it, but I am curious on this setup and believe it may surprise us )

I have to say that the center motor mount is probably not designed with the Speed 300 in mind, I can believe that putting a heavy thing like that above the chassis would have negative effects - but again, let's wait and see

Mine is ordered, still about a month away I think!

Greetings,
Fuzz

center mount w/ the razor bl ( smaller than the stock) and 3 batts on either side would be perfect balance

Hi,
I have one question regarding the steering adjustability: In the flash presentation on X-Ray site, it says that the car has fully adjustable:... front and rear toe in... . However, in all pics I've seen so far, the lower connection between cnuckles (which shoud, as I believe, adjust the toe-in angle) seems solid.
So the question is, if some adjustments can be achieved only with tuning parts, or will the stock chassis have all the options as shown in the presentation?

(it actualy doesn't matter to me, as long as I've already ordered mine, I just don't want to be disappointed, when I open the box...)

Mounting 6 cells will not require using the central motor mount. Instead of a side x side pack shown in some of the pictures floating around simply use a stick pack. According to my calculations a side by side pack of 5 KAN cells is 85mm x 29.5mm as opposed to the stick pack of 6 cells which would be 88.5mm x 34mm.

Hi,

A question for Mr. Hudy:

My hobbyshop told me (here in Belgium, Europe) that we would most likely have to wait until after new year. Is there any truth in this, or is there a chance we will get it earlier?

I am willing to support my LHS, but unless the real release date is being pushed back I cannot believe Europe is not getting the car before new year.

Sorry if I sound a bit angry, but I am a bit angry with my hobbyshop so that's why I suspect them to do this every time a new car comes out so they can first get orders in and then order. Could be the way to do business, but I feel differently.

So I would be glad if anyone has more info on this.

Mario

He has been quiet lately! I thin he is sick of all the questions already! I don't blame him if he is, but I still can't wait for my Xray. The mod class at our local track is a little small and once the Xray comes out there are going to be a lot of guys here that will be racing them in the mod class. It should be fun. I can't wait to run my brushless Xray!
