540 Shopping List?

What do I have to get to have a running 540 Hybrid Gen 2? I am new to the 540 Micro World. I know you need:

1. 14 turn or higher mod motor

2. A decent 1/10 ESC

3. Drivetrain Mods galore

Now, I don't know about this

1. Battery Pack

2. Shock

3. Anything else that I missed.

For batteries, get some GP2200's from here.

For suspentsion, you can get away with the stock front springs, but you really are better off with some harder springs to compensate for the extra weight. You will also NEED a vsc setup with 10 or 15wt oil for the rear.

We include a set of rubber o-rings that you install over the dampers in the front to make the stock springs a bit stiffer. It also gives you some dual-rate aktion as well. http://www.aktionrc.com/x3/540i/lipo5407.jpg You can see them here just above the blue springs. But if you buy stiffer springs, they still help.

thanks dan. Well, I was looking at the CP1700SCR cells, and they look good, but I was wondering if these will suffice instead of the GP2200s? Those seem sort of expensive after being used to .90 URC 1100HR+ cells, but if the CP1300SCR cells will work, then I'll get those. I think I'll get the CP1700 cells. Any more suggestions? What about the CBP2000 cells?

Yeah, you can't get these kind of cells for 90 cents. The CP1700's are great cells, they powered just about every Hybrid out there back when they first came out. A couple of people, troll comes to mind, who ran the CP1300's and aside from some shorter run times, they didn't have any issues with the cells, and they are lighter, so you have that advantage. You can basically run any 4/5SC cell, that's what the kit was designed for, so if you can get some CPB2000 for cheap, then by all means. What we don't recommend is running the 90 cent 1100 2/3A cells. I mean you wouldn't hook a 9V alkaline battery up to your stock Micro right? Same theory, just on another level.

Yeah, I've been around long enough not to use KAN cells in a 540 Micro. So a CP1700 will work okay. Sweet.

Where do you get the RAD bodies from? Do you have a link?

Thanks
