Front Suspension Problem II

I was building my M18 today and everything was going fine, until i got to mounting the front suspension to the chassie. Is there supposed to be so much friction between the bar that turns the wheels and the chassie? (the long black one that connects the 2 front wheels) When i put the shocks on it is really pushing down on the chassie, i took it apart and rebuilt it and had the same problem again.

Thanks for the help.

Did you put in the downtravel stops or screws into the upper arms to keep the suspension from going to far?

I thought the droop screws were only supposed to be in contact with the chassis when the car is not on the ground. While sitting, the car's suspension should have some up and down movement, and the droop screws control how far down the a-arms travel. RTR weight should sit in between the two extremes, with more up travel than down travel.

In theory. However, the stock springs push the car to its full maximum height. In the stock setup the droop screws control the maximum rideheight, and downtravel. They can also be used somewhat like tweak screws.

There are aftermarket lowered springs that separate these from one another.

Ah, gotcha. The stock springs are too stiff for how light the car is. I was looking at some aftermarkets, Atomic has a lowrider set, I guess they're just shorter? along with having 3 different stiffness choices. I think I'm going to stick with Xray option parts on this car, their quality is amazing.
