uncontrolable reverse

hi all, i am having a bit of a problem. I am new to micro and just received my second hand micro. It has stock receiver and remote and team orion flash esc with an orion big block.

Okay i am trying to set up the esc and i can get it set, but then when i go to accelerrate the car moves about 3 feet and then uncontrollably reverses and it cannot be stopped. When the car is picked up it just keeps going backwards, and the only way to stop it is to turn the esc off. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, as my first venture into R/C cars has started off really bad.

Welcome to YM, have you tried reprogramming the esc.... A little more info on what you have tried so far will help.

It starded after i would set up my orion flash esc by the manual. And then i would go foward a little and then it would just go full speed backwards. I would shut everything down unplug batteries(4 double A's) and then start it back up and go foward a little, then backwards again. Right now its worse, evertime i turn the car on regardless if the controller is on it immediatly just goes full speed backwards. Even with the remote on same thing. I DUNNO?!

Thanks Jeremy

Check to see if your throttle knob is set right......you will know when its set because the tires wont be running.....and the next thing i would check would be your radio settings.

On your radio you should see a throttle knob, especially if your using the stock radio.......turn that to the left and see if that stops the wheels from turning......if that doesnt work then you might have a bum esc....and check the wires on the esc.....

yeah all i have is the batt hooked to esc and motor to esc and its still just going backwards...with that its prob a bum esc..what do you think is the most economical route from here(brand, model). This car was intended to be a cheap thrill....i guess that is out of the question now!

by the way i really appreciate your time

no problem man...thats what the forums are for right.....and thats the reason why you joined.....since its just suppose to be a small thrill then you might want to look around and find a cheap esc.....but if you want something thats a little more then i would get the Novak Spy, its tiny and will handle 3oo size motors as well.....

Forward and then oncontrolable backwards sounds like a low battery voltage....

Going forward on the transmitter and then a car going backwards seems like a REV switch setting on the transmitter, if that is wrong the ESC is also difficult to program....

when i used to have a flash esc eay back in the day, that was a sign of the battries being dead. if you are useing aa's this is your problem. try getting a better battery pack or chargeing the one you have.
