ESC Suggestions
I'm sure this has been asked more then once so i hope noone gets upset but.. I'm looking at buying a new ESC. I'm running a stock motor at the moment and really, dont have plans to make this thing an all out racer. We (my girlfriend and I) just enjoy racing against eachother in the basement.
So what im looking for are some suggestions on an ESC that will run my stock motor fine, but give me the option if i ever felt like upgrading, to a larger motor. Reverse would be nice to keep, and affordable would be a bonus, but i dont mind spending abit more on something im going to be happy with.
BTW, great site, i've already learned alot, so thank you.

The best thing i would suggest is to go with a 1/10th scale esc....an esc with a small footprint like GM's SX series esc's and Futaba's MC230 or 330, and of course the LRP Quantum series esc's.....just remember you pay for what you get.... And these esc's will handle any micro motor thats out there on the market.
And welcome to the best place to know more about micros.

The Team Xray 300 ESC is nice. Its smaller than the Novak Spy and has in a built-in switch. So that is 1 less wire to see on the chassis. It can use 180's, 180's Modified and up to 300's modifieds. But this ESC doesn't have reverse. They also have a 180 ESC, but its not for modified 180's, but has reverse.
I would rate some ESC's like this...
IPD Racing R-18 (Impossible to find)
Team Xray 300
Novak Spy

But lets say he wants to get a mod motor....The Spy will still need to be upgraded to an aftermarket esc.....its just best to get a 10th scale esc and never have to worry about micro motors.

Yeah, the was initially my thought too, get some type of micro ESC. I was looking at the Quantum Micro Reverse, but worired about it limiting my motor size. I'd like to say im going to stick to small stuff, but we all know how things like that go.
Thanks for the comments so far, if anyone else has some suggestions offer em up. I am leaning towards one of the Futaba's now though Alfred.

That is a very affordable esc....and it will push any micro motor thats out there now....since it's made for 540 motors.

Yes take Alfred's words for it. A 10th scale esc will handle any micro mod motor whenever you want to upgrade it from stock form. I have both the Futaba mc230/330cr esc and they work great for their small sizes. Now, you make the choice...

I decided on the 330cr. I got what i thought was a pretty good deal for them. They should be here within a week.
Thanks everyone for the input.
