Radio advice needed.

Ok so I saw this receiver and it got me thinking abot investing in an FM system.

So I went to tower to see if I could find some reasonably priced FM systems. I found this Futaba 3PM /no servos

I know the pictured receiver is 35Mhz, but will it work with the futaba controller? Plus, I thought FM didn't use X'tals, the included receiver with the futaba has a X'tal slot.

Are there 35MHz TXs? I don't think they're against the law here, frankly I don't care.

Let me know
Maxx

FM can use crystals or a synthetic oscillator.

Where is here?

There is no way to make a Futaba 27, or 75 MHz work with a 35 MHz transmitter, without changing a portion of the internals of the radio.

Here is Barbados,

I think I tried to get some stock elecs off you before, but the deal fell through. How ya doin man?

On average, how small are FM receivers?
I'll have to get fress X'tals if I go FM then...Cuz I have a ton of Xmods X'tals at my disposal .

From what I've been reading, FM seems to be alot better, and I can't find a really small AM receiver .

I love my Futaba T3VCS , cost only €575,-

Yes, the 3PM is a good quality transmitter and no, not to get in 35mHz because in most countries 35mHz is reserved for flying

I have several FM radios, but I seem to always choose my Airtronics MX-3S radio. It has enough adjustments to keep me happy and because both the Tx and Rx are synthesized I never worry about crystals.

Smallest FM receiver out there is the Novak XXL, its what I run in all of my 18th scale vehicles. But it uses crystals.

In general receivers that use crystals can be made smaller than synthesized ones.

If your worried about size then you can always decase it and shrink wrap it......but i would never do that......

Now here is the next question, is there a big diff in 27&75 MHz? Is there that big of a diff between the two? Just wondering.

I'm sure Mr. Attack has already bought a remote but in case anyone else ever comes across this and thinking about what remote to get... there's the Hitec SRX. Currently $100 from tower if you can nab it while actually in stock or $115 direct from Hitec, that's with remote and receiver only, no servos.

It can be had FM or AM and 27 MHz or 75 MHz, so you can start out with the theoretical benefits of FM over AM. Then Spektrum makes a 2.4 GHz module compatible with this remote which you can get later for another $150 giving you the least expensive way to go Spektrum if you want to do it later.

The remote has 10-car model memory, end point adjustment and exponential adjustment, and 3 channels. Not sure what else you'd ever need. These remotes are very popular in my area for 1:8th scale nitro buggies and I'm now using one with my M18.
