Question Rear Suspension

Hey I was just wondering exactly what i would need to do and what parts i would need to make my MRS4 have an oil rear shock. I have recently put a Mini Machine Motor into my car and also a new 6 cell 6v pack. I am running it on an 11t pinnion with the stock spur. Everything else is stock and I find that the car gets squirly when it goes faster than 30mph. I need this extra suspension but i am just confused on the process and the required parts.

I run on a main street with a limit of 35 mph and no one does that because it connects to a highway and people just are naturally stupid. Any way I am goin faster than traffic at top speed but the out runs are usualy when i flip it and ruin my "look at me I'm insane" moment.

Thanks for any future advice!!!

You can get a rc18t front shock and install it, but you need to make sure that your at the 150mm setting. GPM also makes an oil damper as well with different tension springs.

Are you using the stock rear upperdeck........All you would need to do if you are using the stocker is too just cut it in a upside down V......stop when you get to the first ball cup.

Ok, well its time to rehash an old post

Stock chassis, stock upper deck piece.... using the same method described previously in cutting of the deck, would it be possible to mount the stock rear suspension on the rear most hole, but on the upper side rather then the underside?

Yes of course it would be possible, are you planning to go with a bigger shock in the rear, if your planning to you can get the vcs shock or the front rc18t shock and mount it that way.

Well for now, if I didnt feel like spending the $13 to $23 on the pair of front rc18T shocks, then it was just nice to know that I could mount the stock shock in a new way to make it work for the time being

Although, the stock rc18T shock does look kinda cool vs the stock shock.

And its also more tunable then the stocker as well, with different springs and oils you should have no problem keeping the rear down.

Hmm, well the one part that I wondered about it was, that it almost seemed like it was "over-kill" in terms of the size and actual shock movement.

Obviously on the RC18T where its used offroad I could see the need for larger shocks or setups etc. But since the micro is used onroad, would the micro really see any kind of benefit from having that RC18 shock? Its going to keep that rear end firmly planted I would imagine. But it wouldnt really dampen it, like it would on an offroad car.

I guess im just under the impression that a smaller shock (say the GPM one) would be more beneficial to the micro. Hmmmmm

Does it require any other hardware to mount? or just the stock parts.

edit - Just looked on TA's webpage and they have 3 diff springs - silver,blue,gold - 2.55lb, 3.00lb, and 3.45lb.

Well if you think its overbearing then you can get the GPM Rear shock.....which will still work so much better then the stocker....it comes with a set of tuning springs as well and does mount with no extra mods.

Take a look there, they have the VCS shock and the GPM, but the only bad thing is there on order.......so you guys might want to send them an email to see when they get it back in.

Yeah I saw the RC Raceday page, but it seemed like the stock never seemed to change, so I just shrugged it off as almost being like a dead link page.

There is a hobby shop out in P.E.I (east coast canada) that has stock on the RC18 shocks.

I have ordered parts via them and they were pretty quick and easy about it. I can check with my LHS when im stop by there tomorrow

http://yourmicro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17870

Might help someone else that is planning to do this. It looks like he has it mounted on a stock rear end, as mine is.

Hmm looks good ... off to hobby shop i go ! LOL
