How and Why I purchased a Pro-Pulse Pro-T100

Aloha! I'm E-Rock, and I'm coming to you from Hawaii. I just wanted to add to the list of proud Pro-Pulse owners, and I wanted to share my story of "How and Why I purchased a Pro-Pulse Pro-T100." Well, first off, let me begin by saying that I actually have three of them!!! They are all the Pro-T100 truck models. I got them while Radio Shack had a great sale on them. They normally cost $99 for the vehicle with radio. Then you gotta pay $30 more to get a battery and charger. But I got the vehicle, radio, battery, charger, extra set of wheels & tires, extra bumpers, and a high speed motor upgrade (worth over $220) all for only $99!!! For that price, you can't go wrong!

The reason that I have three of them -

I went into Radio Shack one day to pick up some cables and an audio/video selector box for my stereo and playstation 2. I saw the bundle and thought "Wow! That's a bargin!" so I picked one up (also adding to the purchase a quick charger so I didn't have to charge the battery over night) and brought it over to my buddy's house. We played Guitar Hero II on PS2 as I charged the battery, popped it in and took it out on the street. As soon as I hit the throttle, both me and my buddy's jaw dropped to the ground as we watched in amazment, the speed of the little rocket! After the battery died, I went back to Radio Shack and picked up a second Pro-Pulse so that I could bash around and race with my buddy. We had a blast all night long!

Of course pieces went flying and parts broke from bashing, so then I needed to buy replacement parts. I bought some, but dang, they're kinda pricey!? Then I blew out a servo, and to my disappointment, there were no replacement servos available in Radio Shack. I would have to order it from the mainland. Well, there was no way that I wanted to have my Pro-Pulse down for a week while I wait for the replacement servo to come in, so what did I do??? I went ahead and bought a third Pro-Pulse for extra parts. (Remember now, it was still on sale!!!) So for an extra $70 over what I would've paid for a replacement servo, I got a whole vehicle with an extra radio, battery, wheels & tires, etc! I still love bashing my Pro-Pulse vehicles everywhere.

Eventually the bug to want to hop it up bit me, but hop-ups are very limited. So, that's when I invested in a Team Associated RC18MT, which I'm hopping up as we speak. I've already invested over $500 into it. So my RC18MT is my "racer" and my Pro-Pulse Pro T100's are my "bashers!" One thing I must say though... Out of the box, the Pro-Pulse is faster than the RC18MT from Team Associated!? No joke!

The RC18MT is geared differently than the Pro-Pulses or the RC18T. The MT has a 10t pinion where the RC18T and B have 14t Pinions (not sure on spur gears). I don't remember but I think the Pro-Pulse has a 13t pinion (again don't remember the spur gear).

I currently have an RC18T and 4 Pro-Pulses (2 still in boxes). The plan for my Pro-Pulses are one buggy (B100) one truck (T100) and convert one to a Monster Truck (Project MT100x) and Rally Car (Project R100x).

Cheers, from the west coast on the mainland! Sounds like you had the same reaction I did when first set my T100 on the ground and punched the throttle. Great story and one that seems to be similar to all RC18T / MT owner's experiences that spring for a Propulse.

Welcome aboard!

Here's mine all together.

You see you can fit a better body onto it. The wheel base for the hummer isn't exact (it was made for the Mini-T) but the ones for the RC18MT and possibly Mini-Quake, Mini-LST will fit the wheelbase better.

I'm planning on putting some 10th scale touring car wheels on it soon.

Aloha! It's E-Rock again coming to you from Hawaii. I wanted to go into a little more detail about my three Pro-T100's. I've also got a Team Associated RC18MT as well.

On my first Pro-T100, I'm running the twin motor conversion kit with the red 1400mAh NiMh battery pack. I've also installed the graphite drive shaft, titanium turnbuckle tie rods, and aluminum oil-filled shocks. Depending where I'm driving it, I'll either run it with 1/10th touring tires (with Trinity wheel adapters) for running it on the street, but if I'm out bashing it off-road, then I'll run it with the tires off of my Team Associated RC18MT. I like to call it my Pro-Pulse "Monster Basher!"

On my second Pro-T100, I installed the High-speed motor upgrade. I blew out the outdrive on the rear differentials, so I've replaced it simply by dropping in the differential that I pulled from my Team Associated RC18MT (since I installed MIP super diffs in the RC18MT). I've also replaced the stock plastic dogbones with Factory Team Blue Aluminum dogbones! I let this one sit low, so this one is my Pro-Pulse "Road Rager!"

Here is a picture of "Monster Basher" & "Road Rager" side by side.

My third Pro-T100 is 100% pure stock! Actually, it's just my "parts" truck, as I've mentioned in my previous post.

I want to get the high-speed servo (the blue one) but for the past three months, Radio Shack has been out of stock!? I also want to get the aluminum upgrade kit, but I think Radio Shack discontinued it, cause I no longer can find it on their web site!?

Here is a picture of my blown Pro-Pulse differential outdrive and the RC18MT differential I replaced it with.

I know this is a Pro-Pulse forum, but here is my RC18MT, from which I donated the differential from.

And here's the whole family portait!

LOL... naw, that ain't my Pro-Pulse driving around here in Hawaii. I actually watched that footage several times before purchasing my Pro-Pulse. I do however bash my T100 in the same dirt conditions as in the video, and on occasion I'll get a rock in my gears, but it really is no problem.

Hey BilboBaggins, I'd really love to see how your Monster Truck (Project MT100x) comes out! Did you get a chance to see my Pro-Pulse "Monster Basher" picture that I posted?

Yes I did, and I like it.

For my Project PRO-MT100x I plan on using two sets of RS rear aluminum shocks (using the 2 front sets for the R100x project) and have Trinity Monster tires on order. The body I'm either going to use a spare Mini-LST body (My wife has one on her Mini-Quake) or find a body whose Wheelbase is closer to the Pro-Pulse. I wish the Panel Delivery body had a longer wheelbase, it's designed for the Mini-T like the Hummer SUT.

The Rally car is going to be fun. RS front Aluminum shocks all around.
Fantom 15T mini micro mod motor, upgraded RS drive shaft. I still have to get Arms (either RC18R or aftermarket Aluminum, I wish RPM made them for the 18R), CVD's (Leaning towards 3 Racing) Hinge Pins (have to upgrade when using RC18 style arms) and probably MIP super Diffs or the cool Titanium ones I saw on eBay. I forgot, I need to decide on a body (leaning toward Citroen.)

COOL!!! Can't wait for you to post some pictures! I'm still working on my "Monster Basher" and I was thinking about going back to Radio Shack to pick up another set of aluminum shocks and use four long shocks for my "Monster" and four short shocks for my "Racer." I'll be sure to post any upgrades I do as time goes by.

I've been trying to build up my cash reserves so I can purchase the parts I need for the Rally Car. I have to try and get to the track to pickup the tires and body for the Monster Truck (Who my loving wife has already claimed as hers.)
