Is this a little too much for my 540 or is it one of neccessary hop up?

that is a necessity.....the stock diff cans two tabs will break with a 540 motor in it and even a 300 motor as well.

that is very expensive. I can't see the plastic front diff gears lasting in a 540.

Alfred, does your 540 still have the plastic front?

I've put a GH ball diff 2 in both my 540 mrs4s and they're perfect. Very rare though.

What do you have so far Silvia?

if you dont already have one and are quick, there's an eagle racing rear ball diff on ebay at $1 so far. I've never used eagle racing parts but if you get it cheaply enough, its worthwhile.

I use the hpi diff can and oneway.........anything plastic on the drivetrain is not going to last very long....and make sure that you stock up on spur gears as well.
