Are you talking about the linkage rod (ball and cup connection)? If so, roll the cup to one side of the ball, then use needlenose pliers on the area where the cup screws into the turnbuckle rod and twist in the direction you rolled the cup. It should pop off. When you reassemble it, just put your pliers on one side of the axle upright opposite of the ball, and on the cup. Then just squeeze together. If you remove/replace the rod ends several times, they will get loose, and you'll eventually have to replace them. It's the nature of the beast.
A long-term solution, is to replace the ball ends with DuBro screw on linkage ends. You'll need 2/56 size, and may have to cut down the length of the trheaded part.
