My First 18t has arrived!

I'm charging it as I speak. The biggest suprise was the size. I mean you see the picture on the box but it doesn't really hit you until you open the box. and I didn't think the servo would be so small. Then again I didn't look into the truck as much as I usually do before I make a buy. Any way I can't wait to get it charged up and ready to go. I'm going to need to start looking into hop ups as I want to soup it up. But I kinda wanna get to know it stock first, so that will be next spring's project.

Thanks, I drove it and the stock power is suprising. I wasn't expecting that much of a kick out of the box. Sweet

No man, I'm thinking LiPo later on down the road.

Oh, and I guess that heat problems are not uncommon with the 18t because every day looking through the forums I find some one who is having that kind of issue. I was driving around in my front yard and the esc cut out a few times. I mean the last esc I had that got up to the temperature I'm discribing had to be replaced. Think I'm gonna have to pic up a heat sink for it. Might get one for the motor too.

And another interesting story. I was almost going to call an exterminater. When I took off the lid a potato bug came out from under the battery and a bunch of little green larva things were all over the truck. Had to get out the compressed air and blow'em away...lol

Nice, lol, and as for the esc you might just want to pick up a 10th scale esc......the stock esc did nothing but cause problems for me and it was brand new, threw it in the garbage.lol

Yeah it's nothing special. Still gonna keep it around though as a back up. I'm thinking mamba any way. but not till next summer( I promised myself ) the servo still amazes me though. so tiny.

ps
those little thing are still crawling on the truck. game time ha ha

lol. I just switched it out for my Spy and Airtronics Super Micro receiver, and stuck the stock electronics from the RC18b in my MRS4. I also found an awesome orange heatsink from a computer motherboard and dremeled it so that it was the right size for the Spy. No more auto-temp shutoff! Also, I got a couple capacitors for the two micros. Wired a 1,000uF 50V cap in parallel to the batt. in my MRS4, and a 470uF 40V cap plugged into my receiver.

Yeah, im going to get by with a make shift heat sink on th esc for now.

Plus once I upgrade this baby, I'll have so many electronics there will be spare for my spares. I'm thinkin a completely new MRS4 made from sratch. I've even got a bunch of pc board lying around to make my own chassis.

Or i could just sell some of the stuff, but that wouldn't be any fun

if the motor is overheating, get a supersize heatsync for the m18. it fits and it ROCKS!!! my motor stays REALLY cool when i'm outside bashing, inside it gets a little hot because it's not flying around (actually it is but it's a different kind of flying ) so their's not as much airflow, but it still does a great job.

The m18 heat sink is a great heat sink, but it is really expensive for what you get. you can pick up a GWS heat for a fraction of the cost, and you can usually find them under airplane stuff. If you motor is heating up REALLY bad, check out the gearing to make sure you aren't overtaxing the motor. Are you still running stock gearing on your rc18?

BTW- Congrats on your purchase! You will LOVE this little truck!

yes, I'm still on the stock gearing and I have looked into the GSW also, I haven't really made a final decision on one yet.
