i'll give you 2 pennies on the vcs scenario. stu pid. wait for aluminum threaded body shocks come out. vcs shocks were not designed for real abuse!

Would a 225 fit?

I don't have the truck yet but I plan on switching all my old micro stuff out when I pick mine up?

a 225 is too wide to be useful, you've be removing a lot of structural support material from the chassis to fit it.

ok so i went out and got a hs-55 did i just waste my money or is it worth it. i have been getting mixed info on this. i wanted a servo that would fit in the servo holder without any mods and it fits and it works good. but how long will it work good?

my hs55 only lasted about 2 race days... so i'ld have to say it really wasn't worth the 20 bucks... but..... i also added a washer to the stock servo saver to make it firmer.... if i had left the saver stock, my 55 probably would have lived longer...

Would you guys think a chassis to fit a 225 would be cool?

I want to change mine for sure, this thing sucks. to center, I have to make sure I give it a quick lft steer. from right it sticks and pulls right. I really liked those gws minis for 10 bucks. 19 transit and 47 torque.

How about just a guide for the sides and no end. you'd have to shoe goo it in, but it'd work. maybe a slightly longer chassis? wouldn't be that hard. I have ripped mine apart to look things over and I think a little longer would accomodate the larger servo and maybe even balance it out closer to middle.

so what would i have to do to the chassis to make an hs81mg fit in there? i trimed away some of the chassis and the servo will sit in it but i can get the front of the truck back on with it in there. any pix would be nice.

This thread is a great idea, but after reading through it twice - the only conclusion I can come to is that the HS55 fits with no mods to the chassis, and that is the only servo in existence (other than the stock "servo") that fits without mutilating the chassis and/or steering linkages.

Is this correct? I have committed to far into replacing the RX/ESC to go back now, so I have to find a servo that will work. I have HS81MGs in both of my Micro's, but it sounds like that isn't a good choice for the Mini-T.

How about everyone listing the servo you are running, and what you had to do (briefly) to get it to fit/work?

ok well first off, the hs55 is not a direct drop in. you have to do some mods to the vertical mounting tabs for the stock servo. or you can just leave them off and use servo tape. another servo that you can do the same thing with is the futaba s3101. i just got the 3101 and havint gotten it fully installed, but with testing i have done this thing puts the 55 to shame. it is slightly larger but almost 3 times as strong and .02 seconds faster. and yes torque is important cos well it will keep you going straight or keeps you going turned. both will just drop into the servo hole with no mods except some servo tape. also the s3101 is about $5 more then the hs55.

The HS55 is $1.00 more than a HS81MG.... I just want the least trouble with the install. I haven't done a lot of "modifying" to RC stuff, so I am not overly confident in what I can do.

ok then the hs55 or s3101 with servo tape would be your best bet. they both fit into the stock servo spot with no mods to it. the only thing dif would be that you leave out the vertical servo suport and that isnt even attached to the chassis that well.

Cool - then which servo do you think is better? This truck is going to be used almost exclusively for backyard bashing, but in some ways I guess that is harder on one than racing.

I'm placing the order tonight, so please let me know recommendations.

Hitec HS55
Hitec HS81
Hitec HS81MG
Futaba S3101

The 55 and 81 are the same price, the 81mg is a little more, and the s3101 is $1 more than that.

Main objective - easy installation, reasonable durability.

Thanks - help me out so I can order tonight - all the other stuff is already on the way!

*edit* Sorry, Should have looked first, the HS55 isn't available yet (at Tower), so probably the S3101.

i would sugest the s3101 over the 55. the resion is cos of the better torque. and yes i lost 2 motors in my backyard to backyard bashing. and i also lost 2 stock servos.
