there is this kid at my local track that has this car,, and he seems to be having a problem with the ball cups ,, they keep coming off.. do you have this problem??

I have not raced the truck as there are no local outdoor tracks open this time of year. I do however BASH the heck out of it, and i love it.

The pros? its just about the best preforming 1/18 scale truck out of the box ever. The suspension is amazing change the oil in the shocks to 30~35 and you are set.

The cons? in stock form it tends to traction roll if you are ultra-agressive on power on turns, i sway bar in the back really brings that right under control though. the stock battery pack is only so so

The wheels are about 3mm taller and 1mm wider (in the rear) than the stock.

reguarding the ball cups, there are two fixes, one is free the other cost some money...

the free way is to lightly dremel out the cup alittle more so it is not as tight. I know it sounds counter intuitive, but it works. I also drill a little hole in the back of the cup to keep it from binding. you need to do this by feel so you need to be very careful.

the other option is to get out your calipers and buy some lunsford turnbuckles and dubro ball cups the total length is 55 mm so you have a bunch of choices.

hope this helps..

-Chris

Nice motor and set-up you've got there Quitefly . So you haven't had the chance to run your AON yet? I hear it's got a ton of torque . Are you sticking with the stock gearing?

Rich (the Losi Guy) posted this Lunsford/Losi mod http://www.one18th.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29996
Your theroy on the ball cups makes sense, alot of it too. Since Losi decided to amke the 'buckles pop off under pressure from a crash, they had basically 2 simple options of how to make this happen. The first one we think of is to make the ball cup over sized a little to pop off. Your insight into making them too toght or small makes sense, good one

I thought that might be the problem with the first one but the second wasn't that tight. I am thinking of just shoe gooing the stock spider gears and using that.
