I want to see them make a belt drive car. I also wish they made newer adjustments, like camber links and 1/10 style shock mounting. Other than that, they could make a narrower chassis.

Slight update. I have been told the new universals will work with the old inner hub system. Im still unclear as to the other way around.

Now if the new universals will work with the oldie but goodie M18 then it also should be backward compatible as well.

Just thinking out loud.

The old uni's have a slot on one side. They work with inner hubs only, unless someone made a retro hex adapter.

If the new uni's have a slot on both sides. Works with new hex adapter and old inner hubs? Just don't see how these could go old style???

Can't really tell from the pictures on X-rays website, only see a slot on one side of the new uni's. Would hate to buy new alum. uni's since I have two full sets.

To be quite blunt. I don't see a real reason to upgrade to aluminum. It weighs more, so you drivetrain isn't as light. I have only encountered needing aluminum universals when attempting to use a one way differential with foams on carpet with larger motors.

I just like to know that they will hold up and be alot more durable then the composite uni's.

Here is a step by step build someone posted on another site (they are in Europe where the kit is available). This is minus him painting and attaching Mazda body, and of course the electronics are his own.

If i may ask a question--whats that metallic looking thing attached to the input gear holding the spur gear. Now i cant wait to get my hands on one, the kit looks Awesome indeed.

Looks like a reinforcment ring to keep the main spur gear from warping from trouque off the drive shaft. I have had several spur gears toasted, hope the new gears have been hardend.
