I had an owl with a 5 foot wingspan have a go at one of my 10th scale sedans a few years back. I was driving about 1 in the morning on a dark road, the car was nice and quiet with a brushless motor. It touched the car with its talons and realized something was wrong. It then flew onto the power lines and continued to watch the car go up and down the street. It totally came out of nowhere and made no noise at all.
I usually keep that in mind when I am driving my Micro-T's at night. Its often dark and I have driven them 200 feet away before(they have a 2.4Ghz radio)
If an owl grabbed it I don't think I'd see it again unless it got freaked and dropped it. I know I'd be working the throttle and steering as much as possible to make noise.
