If i were you i would put the esc at the bottom and the rx on top so this way you can cut down on the interference......... And so far its looking good man.

Yeah thats what I was wondering about if it would interfere with the graphite plates or not. Man those plates are sharp. I could already see them starting to slice into the wires.

Once I shorten up the motor wiring it will look better. I'm planning on soldering the ESC wires 90 degrees to the motor connectors. That way it will cut down on extra wiring near the left rear wheel and it will be running along the length of the chassis.

Plus if the RX isnt in the way then there is nothing to obstruct it.

I was more or less worried about glitching if I put something to close to one another.

phooootos

Heh ... some new photos...

I know that Alfred guy likes keepin tabs on my setup.

Yes my on/off switch is almost underneath the ESC. But that is about the best spot for it. I will be using both the bullet style and saddle pack style of battery packs. Whenever they arrive.

Enjoy

Thanks man. Took me a good couple hours just to even lay down a plan of how I wanted it to turn out.

I received my batts from ww.CBP.com this past monday and one of them was a dud. They wired the pos to neg and neg to pos .. buggers.

The downside about that is, I first tested it using the voltmeter on my charger vs using my multimeter first. So after draining the cells till the micro doesnt move I charged it back up again.

I have a question.... How do I tell if a cell might be dead??

Elite 6 cell 1500mah
charged at .50 (aka 500mah)
charge ended at exactly 2hours
Shows a voltage of about 8.65v (approx) on my charger

So from what I calculate, it should only have about 850mah on it and it should have also taken about 3.6hrs to charge ...?

Side note: I got my body washed, window masks in, and taped up. I'm going with a blue and silver for my colours. Im basically doing the exact same painting scheme that is HPI's webpage. Except the front of the body is going to be blue.

It should take less then that if you charge them at 1.5 amps........now as for the dead cell you will need to check each cell with the voltmeter.....

I have never charged my batts @ more then 1amp. I know when i first tried to charge them (one of the other new packs) at 800mah, it false peaked after 10minutes. Recharged at 500 and everything seemed fine.

As for that pack in question.... I ended up giving it another round on the charger and it was done after an hour or an hour and a bit... which "should" have given me more mah stuffed into the battery.

Now what I was noticed was, i was charging up my "saddle" pack style on saturday @ the races @ 800mah and it was peaking around 9.16v range.

Is that a little bit high for a 6 cell pack? I thought they only went to around say 8.5v range.

EDIT: the bullet pack w/ the backwards connectors seemed fine on the track before I busted the knuckle.

The saddle pack I will test out tomorrow to see how it runs.

When you first take the battery off the charger the voltage will always be more........once the pack cools down then the voltage should drop.

LOL .. who is this guy and why is he trying to hi-jack my build thread

Meinp5: If you have some pics to post, feel free to start up your own thread and add them there. I'm sure you would get a lot more viewers if you had your own thread.

heh .. time for another update:

As you know I'm runnin the Penguin chassis and have raced it now.

I purchased some soft foam rear HPI tires and all i have to say is .. OMFG does it handle better. I also purchased the HPI one way front end and I changed the Penguin rear chassis plate to the G10 "wide" plate which is right in the middle of the soft / hard settings.

I still have a bit of "push" with the chassis and im wondering how it would do if I put hard HPI foams on the front. In place of the stock rubber ones.

I'm also now running a 10T pinion and its noticeably quicker off the line and its fast enough for the size of track im running on.

... now i just need to teach my gf how to drive her car..

I'am going to purchase a Futaba 3PM w/ synth RX for her car to swap out the HPI savage one in there now. Its too glitchy and I really HOPE that it is the AM that is making the steering servo glitch. Otherwise I dont know whats up, because no wires were touching any other wires.

Thats all.

Nope not yet ... forgot about doing that !

Yeah one of the employee's @ LHS that I deal with, she upgraded to a Futaba 3PK, so she would sell me her old 3PM radio to install into my gf's micro car.

Tonight is practice so I will be picking it up.
