OK Guys, here's the poopie:
there will be four packages available. ALL come with the same controller - what you are choosing between is the motor's Kv, or RPM per volt. The higher the Kv, the faster the motor/car will run, the more amps it'll draw, and you'll get (logically) lower runtimes. You can also adjust speed with gearing as well. The speeds I'm quoting come from stock spur, and the stock pinion, so faster is easily attainable.
Here are the four motors offered:
4200 Kv:
Stock Gearing on Mini-T
3 cell Lipo = 32mph
2 cell lipo or 8 cells = 25mph
6 cells = 17mph
The best choice of the serious racer. Very flexible via gearing for 2 or 3 cell Lipo packs for track use. Very looong runtimes for bashing/practicing on 6 cell packs - not particularly fast on 6 cells, but a TON of torque, and lots of fun. 3 cell Lipo runs are still MUCH faster than any brushed motor option out there, and longer runtimes as well, due to the increased efficiency.
5400 Kv:
Stock gearing Mini-T
3 cell Lipo = 40mph
2 cell Lipo or 8 cells = 33mph
6 cells = 20mph
A very good 6 cell or 7 cell racing set-up with long runtimes, and also the best racing set-up for running 2 cell lipos. The most versatile of all the combos for both racing, and insane speed runs with a 3cell Lipo pack. Troy has a video of this motor running on his site:
www.b-p-p.com that most have seen already.
6800 Kv:
Stock gearing Mini-T
3 cell Lipo = 50mph
2 cell Lipo, or 8 cells = 40mph
6 cells = 27mph
Most likely, the best 6 cell all-purpose racing setup. Good runtimes and speed. A little hot for racing w/more than 6 cells, but still VERY capable of rediculous bashing speed runs on 8 cells, or 3s Lipos. A touch faster than the Lehner motor from Troy (6660Kv) also in his videos.
8000 Kv:
With the stock gearing and a 3cell Apogee lipo pack (
www.pfmdistribution.com), one of our Mini-T's has been confirmed at over 60mph.
With a 2 cell lipo pack, or 8 cells = 48mph
6 cells = 32mph
Basically, this motor is almost unuseable for actual racing, unless you've got a really big oval track, or will ONLY use 6 cells or less! Also - drivetrain parts at these speeds most likely will have a reduced lifespan - stock up on diff sets!
The 4200 and 5400 motors are in stock, and will ship when shipping begins (again - check our website MIDDLE of the week) You will need a "big block" or speed 300 motor plate for it to be bolt-in, or you can dremel the lower mounting hole a bit on the stock plate. If you receive a combo, and do NOT have an appropriate plate - let us know, and we'll take care of you. The next shipment of motors will have correct mounting holes for the stock plates.
The 6800 and 8000 motors will be coming into stock mid-May, and they will have the corrected mounting holes from the start, and will be fully "Bolt In".
Price on the 4200 and 5400 combos is $139.95 motor and controller. We haven't received final pricing on the 6800 and 8000 motors yet, so I'm not sure if they will be the same. The rumor is, that they may be a bit more :-(
Come see us at RCX this weekend in Anaheim! We'll be doing demo runs at the booth, and you might catch us out in the parking lot after hours blazing around!
