Vendetta ST help please

Hello, help plese.
So there is Permax BL-480/3D Brushless Motor, and Permax BL-480/8D Brushless Motor. Can anyone tell which motor is better 3d or the 8d.

Jaejw1, if you were to buy a new esc to work with most of the motors like the ones mentioned above which would you pick

There is a guy selling used 1/10 mamba Max with a motor for $50
And I'm already trying to get one of the permax motors mentioned above.
Plus 2s lipo.

do you have specs on them... i would probably get the highest kv motor... the motors are larger than 400 can and will offer a ton of torque.. but you dont want to just depend on the torque alon to give you the speed you want/need..

the higher kv motor will give you the best of both worlds.. conservative gearing for good top end and still give you the punch you need..

i havent been able to find any specs on those motors...

All it does is lead to decreased runtimes, higher wear on your batteries, the need for hotter battery packs, increased wear and tear on the car's running gear, and increased parts replacement bills from breaking things because of higher speed wrecks.
A good middle of the road kv-rating motor is more than enough for most purposes and plenty fast enough for a good time - whether racing or bashing.

Warp speed is only a good thing if you're only intent is making high speed parking lot run or just showing off.
when talking about motors with this amount of torque.. your statement is far from the truth... atleast when dealing with the minis..

the purpose of using the higher kv motor,, is to keep with a conservative gearing. like the stock gearing and still have long runtimes.. cool motor. cool electronics ,,, if you dont want the speed then gear it to what you want..

why get a motor that has to be geared at 24/41 when you can get the same affect from a motor geared at 16/45

PERMAX BL-480/3D
MOTOR SPECS:
Length: 1.81" (46mm)
Diameter: 1.16" (30mm)
Shaft diameter: 0.16" (4mm)
Shaft length: .49" (12.5mm)
Weight: 4.23oz (120 grams)
Motor kV (RPM/Volt): 1270
No Load Current: 1.7A
Maximum Power: 300+ watts
Maximum RPM: 50,000
Current @ Maximum Efficiency: 28A/83%
Battery: (NiCd/NiMH) 7-10 Cells
Battery: (LiPo) 2 to 3 Cells

PERMAX BL-480/8D
MOTOR SPECS:
Length: 1.95" (49.5mm)
Diameter: 1.18" (30mm)
Shaft diameter: .125" (3.2mm)
Shaft length: .49" (12.5mm)
Weight: 4.23oz (120 grams)
Input voltage: 6-10 cells NiCd/NiMH and 2-3 cells LiPo
RPM Per Volt (kV): 1,610
Max. constant current: 12A
Max. surge current: 20A
No load current: .8A

WHICH ONE SHOULD HE GET...???????? exactly.. what i said,, the one with the highest kv..

not knowing what these specs were before.. i did know that the larger permax motors offered a lower kv rating with much more power.. now seeing these specs i would say to scratch this idea and find a different motor.. the kv is way too low.. motors have tons of power but you would never be able to gear it to get the speed needed..

you might be able to gear it at 24/41 but im not sure what kinds of speeds you will get.. if nothing else.. the car will run very cool.. and you will have a very long runtime.. and you might want a 3s lipo to make up for speeds lost.. do to motor kv..

you can use this to calculate axle speed..

B TW... not everyone runs on a 18th scale track,, and for those that dont.. not all them even run on a track,,

by now ppl know that i DO NOT RUN ON A 18TH SCALE CARPET TRACK.. from videos and reviews i have done.. those that have read would know.. i only run on large 10th and 8th scale tracks and all my reviews are done according to these tracks and surfaces..

never claimed to run on a 18th scale track,, nor do i try to push the 1105/1.5y on those that are... now the 1105/2y or 1105/2.5y would be great and more ideal.. and i have tried telling others to get those motors instead.. find a new argument please.. this one is getting old.. its the same one in every other forum you post in.

ou know what your right.. as always..

i will let you give all the advice here... for everyone regardless of what type of track or size they run on..

just please do a few things before doing so..

show your work..
show your wins
show your vids
show proof that your advice works instead of always fiding fault in the fact that i like 10th scale tracks and everything i do is according to 10th scale..

the only thing i know about you is that you come on these forums and fight with me about running on 10th scale tracks,, and never once have i seen a video, let alone a pic, of your awesome racing,, all your wins.. your national trophies.. let us all know who you are.. maybe you can help others more by showing them what you like to run on and how you drive and the equipment you use..

but until then i will continue to do what i have been doing..

and for all those ppl that have motors that i suggested according to 10th scale dirt tracks ,, and they found it to be too much on small 18th scale tracks,, please have them post those motors on ebay.. im sure they will get their money back,,

Oh, then again, I guess you just pick and choose what you read on other forums and miss out on all the Race Threads. Rough estimate, there's been at least one a month all winter --- again.
in socal.. where???? i would love to go and race..

Vendetta st

Hey guys I'm back!! Question: I need servo that would work great in Vendetta ST, but it must be shorter, my motor doesn't fit, it needs to be shorter by about 7mm. I went to hobby store and they only had tiny ones, I left disappointed. Jaewj1 You said that you had Duratrax ice charger, can you tell me if it needs a separate power supply, or you just use it by plugging it in to a wall.

Vendetta st help

I got permax 480 3d motor, it just slightly longer than the original. Are there any servos that you can recommend to use that are smaller? I'm waiting for a battery and just wondering if there are any lipo chargers that would charge and discharge my battery but under $100, because something like ice charger cost $130 plus minimum $50-60 for the power supply. I found this one http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbachw.html but wonder if it is a good one. I haven't yet got educated about lipo stuff even though I ordered one already dumbass.

Question Vendetta st Help

Hey everyone, so I put together my car but after 4 minutes driving I accidentally pressed trigger all the way and ripped about a quarter of the teeth from my 45 tooth spur gear.. My motor gear was 13 tooth from robinson racing is metal and holding. Is there any recommendations for maybe metal spur gears to fit vendetta. I also compared original 13 tooth gear with my robinsons, and robinsons had shorter teeth, are there anything with longer teeth?
Thank you
