Blazzing Hot Motor

my 370 (stock associated) motor is getting super hot! I kinda reamember from my hpi micro days this happening but I DONT REAMEMBER IT BEING TO THIS MAGNITUDE! will getting the alum motor mount, a heat sink on the motor and gearing the motor up a tooth fix this, or do these motors just run really hot? I am running a 11 tooth on the stock M18T setup. thanks for the help. mike

The lower the gearing, the lower the heat. Make sure there isn't any binding, and also that you aren't pushing the motor too far, like braking or going reverse a lot.

checked on the drive train and found a siezed bearing, cant believe I missed that. Oh well, fixxed the problem and now it is fine.

When you say the lower the gearing, you mean the higher the # of teeth, right? Just want to clarify and make sure we are on the same page.

The lower the teeth on the pinion......gives you more torque, the more teeth gives you more RPMs.....but you can also over gear the motor....... Trying to find the right ratio between pinion and spur for the track is somthing you have to play with. And also check your gear mesh.....make it too tight puts a strain on the motor as well causing the motor to work twice as hard and causing the motor to overheat.

Right I know what the changes to pinion/spur do, but I always get terminology wrong. is up a tooth= lower the gearing. or is it the other way around? always get my head all goofy about that.
