Some brushless setup questions

I just bought a brushless setup for my RC18t and I was wondering what your opinions are on setups.

It is a Tekin Mini Rage ESC and a Castle CompetitionX 8000KV motor. I know thats high KV but its what came with the package.

What gearing do you suggest? I have regular sized foam wheels right now but may go to 1/10 scale to get some extra clearance.

Also I was looking into 7 cell packs. Will a flat pack fit in the stock chassis? I was told yes but from looking at some pictures I dont think it will.

Remember that the lower the T count the faster the accleration will be but lower top end........a bigger pinion will give you slower acceleration but higher top end. You just need to find that balance.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will go ahead and order a 13t, if possible ill get a kit that has maybe 12,13, and 14 so i have a little range.

I will also search for some shotgun type packs.

I think I will try and keep the spur stock, since thats the part I would like to be the weak link in the drivetrain.

Well the stock spur should hold up.......just make sure you get more spares in case that part goes down. And you might want to stock up on input gears and diff gears as well.

Oh yes thats a good idea... what do you think about going with steel gears? Seems that I can buy just the gears themselves for fairly cheap. Diff gears that is....

Not a problem man......just make sure that you stock up on some spur and input shaft gears.....just takes a little pebble to ruin the spur and enjoyment that you might be having during the day.

Okay got the Tekin esc and the Mamba motor installed today. I turned on the esc and it was working for a minute, truck went about 2 feet then stopped. The esc lights turned off. I unplugged the battery then plugged it back in and it started up but the beep sound was faint, now it wont turn on at all. I put the battery back on the charger just incase it was too dead to make it move. This is my first brushless system so I dont know what to expect.... hope i didnt kill it or something...

Yea I know lol. I was just wanting to get power to it first to make sure it worked. The connection was actually messing it up so that I couldnt even get it programmed. I am going through the manual now to see what options do what so I know what im doing before I press buttons.

Got one question though, how do I keep my diffs from loosening up? They always seem to loosen up after runs.
