BIG motor for MINI T

If I get this motor for my MINI T
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...0&I=LXFWS4&P=K
What else should I change? I already have a MIP ball diff and I am using a LRP RUNNER with REVERSE for an ESC. Will that ESC handle it? OH! What about pinions?
Thanks
Ron

I'm pretty sure it isn't any bigger than a 280 can. What gives it higher top end is less turns on the armature, smoothness is more winds, and higher torque is more powerful magnets. That ESC will handle the motor. Get robinson racing pinions for the RC18.

I have two mini t's with that motor and the optimum pinion size seems to be 12 tooth...Go up or down one depending on the size of the area your running.
I have used a 14 on 6 and 7 cells and the motor tends to heat up if you dont carry alot of rpms (large area and low ambient temps). This motor is actually a 370/380 can size. I would suggest the slipper clutch also to help manage the increased torque of this motor. The stock dogbones will hold up fine but the mip cvd's are much smoother. Keep the motor clean and lubed and it will last a long time.

Regards,
Pux

And you cant forget to get the motor plate......if i understand correctly the T didnt come with a 300 size motor plate.......Instead of that motor why dont you use a speed 400...........i have a buddy that has one in his-that i gave him- and it has a lot of power......

Motor plate? Towers web site says it is made for the MINI T and does not say anything about needed any other parts. Usually Tower is good at telling you if you need to "BUY" any other parts to make something fit.

Baja is a direct fit for the stock plate.....If you want to go speed 400 you will have to make your own plate. It will also drastically change the fore/aft balance of the car. But if you like to ride wheelies for days than the 400 is the way to go. Just plan on not turning very well. Also the 400 has a larger shaft that will be hard to find pinions to work on. I filed mine down to use standard 18th scale pinions.

FYI....The can diameter of the 280 and the 300,370,380 are all the same.
The difference is the length of the can.
280= 28mm long
380= 38mm

Hope this helps

Thanks-a-bunch hockeypux19: No, I do not want to run wheelies at all. This MINI T is an oval carpet racer. Which slipper do you like? Or is there more than one?
Thanks
Ron

I like the Losi slipper conversion kit. It comes with a lighter (hard anodized) input shaft wich will allow the motor to spool up faster. also for carpet oval I would look for a set of anti roll bars. Front and rear....I believe they are made by 3 racing or maybee brp. Also the wide front bumper from rpm is a good purchase for 3.95. The guys around here that are fast use shaved foams and set the chassis with the arms level or slightly drooped. Get a set of the rc18t firm springs (silver) i think and experiment with running stiffer on the outside shocks. I would start with 40 wieght shock oil all around and maybee adjust the outside shocks with somthing heavier. Definetly front right. also if you are running the Losi shocks they have different pistons in the kit that allow you to adjust rebound without changing oil.

Thats a darn good question my good man. The only thing I can think of is that maybee some 300 size cans only have one set of mounting holes. The
Baja has two for sure, one narrow and one wide. If i remember correctly the stock plate uses the narrow set. Do your 300's have one or two sets?

This is just an example, if you take a look at the Graupner motors they have one set of mounting holes............and the Trinity motors have two.........

That must be it then....You need the 300 plate to run the motors that only have the wide pattern.

If you have the stock plate you have the narrow holes.
Wont matter if you get the Baja motor.
