got problem...

I want to show my setup with pix but my bro took it for his trip... so will show my 540 soon!!

but i have a problem..

Well currently my elecs are

Intelligent 2/3a 1400
Tamiya Lightly tuned 28T
Spektrum rx
Tamiya TEU101bk

When I charge the battery and run it for say 3-5mins, it runs well.

But then it gets out of control. It reverses by itself or reverse pause reverse and so on. So basically it is out of control even after I repower.

I checked the batttery and it still has 7V so I don't think battery is flat.

My Rx and ESC are sit side by side. Any possiblities you can tell me?

Also how long should this battery last?

The Tamiya ESC that you are using has been unreliable and I recommend you toss it and get something better. There is a gent selling a nive Noval Atom on Hobbytalk for a mere $30 that you should look at. Very tiny, no motor limit and easy one touch setup. This would be ideal for a 540 micro.

Hi Silviac,

Do you have another RC? Or a friend with one? I'd suggest replacing parts on yours until you know which part is causing the issue. Probably the ESC as Steve said, this way will confirm it for you.

If the ESC Steve mentioned has been sold, look out for a Futaba MC230CR, Dan over at AktionRC has used them in 540 MRS4's.

Incidentally, I use a Novak Cyclone in one of my 540 MRS4s and a novak CRS in the other.

It sounds too me that you have a glitch issue.......you can try moving the esc away from the rx........or vice versa.......or change rx crystals and see if that works.

Yes i might look into that ESC steve. As i am only in NZ, it's hard for me to buy only that thing but add other stuff that I may need.

As Alfred said, I might put some stuff in between or reposition the things since it won't cost me any :0 I will try that first and let you guys know!

oh my rx is dsm

Or is it possible that my 1400mAH drains a lot quicker? How can I measure how much left? Can it be checked by multimeter? Cos my V stays around 6.8V.. When it is fully charged it runs very good.

Didnt know you were on dsm.........i would check your battery connections and motor connections as well......it could be the solder joint is just touching making the connection......i would check them first.

Thanks Al. Yes I have checked them and they all were fine.

Is mAH proportional to voltage at all? I really wanna check the mah cos it only runs for 5 mins... unless that is normal or my elecs are consuming a lot

I would cycle the batt just a few more times........and hopefully that will keep it running.

Have you tried another ESC? I'm almost certain this is the cause of your problem.

Yes. The ESC might be overheating, have a short circuit, broken component board, etc.... Tamiya included these speed controls in the newly released M-03M Suzuki Swift mini and a few of the local guys bought this kit. That ESC gave them fits and none worked properly. They all switched to something else and problem was solved.
