Need help with 18T shock in rear

Like the topic says, I need help mounting an 18T shock for my rear mrs4 suspension. I'm using the AktionRC sleeper chassis. So any help would be appreciated.

Thanx
Maxx

Do you mean that you can't quite get the shock mounted, or it won't fit? I don't know much about that chassis, but from pictures I've seen, it looks like all you have to do is pop it into place. I did this mod to my stock chassis, all you really need is the front shock and a pair of needle nose pliars. just set the shock on the two ball ends, and apply pressure from on top of the shock and on the bottom of the ball end. I hope this helps.

I'll try to get pics up. But I'll have to borrow a camera. My problem is with mounting. The motor is soooo big that I'm having problems finding a way to attach the shock.

If your using the stock rear upperdeck then you will have to cut the middle out and put the ballstud on the uppersection of the rearupperdeck.

Ok here is an old picture. I'm using the upper deck of the sleeper.

Those holes leading backward are for mounting the suspension.

Hope that helps.

Yes you can put a ballstud in one of those rear holes that you have in the rearupper deck......

You might have to cut the spring or adjust the shock so that it's not bending the chassis the wrong way.

Do I even NEED a rear shock ?? The rear end seems pretty stiff.

Homer, I'm gunna check my LHS for the ball studs and cups. But they don't have JACK. I think the shock I'm using is from an RC18T and I can't remove the cup that's on it.

I have the shock that is circled in blue.
Homer, are the studs circled in red the ones you mentioned?
I found a set of studs from an HPI suspension kit, but they're too big, I'm hoping associated makes their studs smaller and that what I have isn't the standard size.

I fired up my micro last night, I was just testing the motor mesh etc....the 480 motor sounds wicked fast on only FOUR cells (AAs) . I can't wait to make my 8-cell packs.

I got the shock installed today. I used a piece of aluminium that was included in the sleeper kit. Thgen I took an Xmod evo motor-lead screw and screwed it to the ball end from the bottom. But that diddn't totally work. So I had to use the correct screw and a washer. I screwed it through the top and used the washer to stop the shock from coming off. I had to slacken off the top screw to allow the shock to work.

Do I really NEED a shock?? Maybe if I use a softer rear pod....

I'm gunna post pics of the chassis on saturday, I'm borrowing the camera tomorrow.

I've just recently picked up a used Rs4 with brushless and the car is all over the place without a rear shock, I think having one will tame the bounce in the back. Other then that you can drive it fine without one but it will drive better with one. I'm going to try and fit one of my spare rc18t shocks in there.

Done, just snipped the body mount a bit, works great.

I plan now to change out that huge rx for something smaller.
Not sure what the chassis is, here is a picture.

Hey thanks for the info, from now on I'll be using it on smoother surfaces then as I was on in that video. I was the one that put the couple scratches in it that are there, from that place and no shock. Now I don't think the chassis will drag so much, I hope not at all. Looks like I'll be getting some of that protective skin you can get.

Hope my picture helps the guy with his shock situation. Didn't mean to take over your thread man, cheers. I realize your motor might be bigger so put your ballend closer to the rear.
