i'm wanting to do this to my car and truck but the only caps i can find are 50v and 30v. i've found both in 1000uf and 2200uf but i wasn';t sure if they would still work being such high voltage. is the voltage just what it can handle or what it puts out??

The voltage is what the cap can handle, i dont see anything wrong with it......just give it a try man, it will work.

Well, don't try adding a shottky diode to any ESCs. Most if not all have one built-in and you can damage the ESC by adding one.

you can add another schottky to a motor with no problem, regardless if the esc already has a built-in one. nothing will happen.

Would this werk
I have a Mamba-25 Esc and around 7 or so of the 2200uF@16v would these be alright since I am only running 7.2v batteries(1100mah, 1400mah) ?? Also does it matter how long the wires are from the cap to the ESC ??

That will do, but why do you want to add another one when the mamba esc already has one, i really dont see why it would hurt......

Well if you want you can take the one on the mamba off and put on a bigger one, but i recommend doing this this if your skills with a solder iron is up too par, or you can do serious damage to the esc.

Well if you plan to hook up a cap to the stock esc it will help.....just solder the cap onto the esc and not the motor.

Thanks for the great info. I am considering a cap for all my cars now... Looks like I need a low ESR type to get the best performance. The only low ESR I can find are around 14V. Since I run 3S sometimes, that would be the way to go. I will think about it some more. A lot of people are saying that they don't make that big of a difference.
