MINI T for carpet racering

I am prepping my MINI T for carpet racing. So far I have a a ball diff, I bought The associated oil shocks and find that a couple of them don't hold oil too well. I have a set of foamie tires. I have removed all the stock electronics and installed a Futaba 3103 on steering. using a LRP runner with reverse ESC and spektrum radio. I have a few IB 1400 mil packs from cheapbatterypacks.com. I need motor advice. I don't want to go crazy on the motor. Is a speed 300 a reasonable way to go, or is the BAJA motor better? I need advice on set up, I like my carpet racers low and stiff. I am having a little trouble getting the MINI T to set like that. What is the stiffest springs I can get for the MINI? And where is a good place to get this stuff?
The track I run at runs 2 different 1/18 classes, 4WD and 2WD on an Oval carpet. I am having a lot of success with my Vendetta but not getting far with my MINI T yet.
Any help is appreciated
Ron

There's not too much that I can help you with on the Mini-T. I'm still building mine. But the RC18 shocks I can help with.

Try this to stop the leaks. I have done this to all 3 of my RC18's and still have no leaks. Many of my friends have done the same to theirs with the same results... No leaks. As far as lowering the Mini-T, put some old o-rings (like the ones that you would have after the no leak mod) on the shock shaft on the inside of the shocks. Doing this limits the travel of the shock (so you will not want to do this if you are driving off road) and lowers the overall ride height by sucking the shocks shaft into the body. It's called shock limiters.

I carpet race and the people I race with had Baja motors and said they really liked them but decided to go to brushless. They also race the Reedy Mini-Max motor. We get a lot of stuff from horizonhobby.com, Ebay, or Thetoyz.com.
