Bumper Mod

2 Attachment(s)
Well after breaking my stock bumper on my very first run. I decided my t-100 needed something a little stronger. Here's my bumper made from 1'' diameter pvc. I cut the pvc to the required length, then cut it down the middle to get two halves. Took one half and drilled the screw holes to secure the bumper.

Here's a view from the bottom of the chassis. I mounted the bumper on two rubber bushings which i got from an old dvd drive. My thinking here is that the rubber will absorb some of the shock on impact. The bushings also provide clearance space between the shocks and the bumper.

Also because of the shape of the bumper the screws will be protected on impact which is an another improvement over the stock bumper. Anyone who has any improvements over this design feel free to suggest them. Next stage is painting it black to match the rest of the body.

Looks good man....why dont you put the bumper in the other direction.......kind of looks like a snow plow.

lol, I thought the same thing. I'm working on some modifications to it so it looks better but for now it does the job.

Hey.. what's the best shock oil weight for on-road?

alfred 03-21-2009 08:11 AM

It depends....whats springs are you using......for handling i would go with stiffer springs and a lighter viscosity oil.

genitor 03-21-2009 09:44 AM

I'm using the stockers right now but looking at these...

Are springs color coded according to stiffness?

alfred 03-21-2009 07:04 PM

Yes usually springs are color coded.......RERacing, what he said was right, the best way to know what works for you is to try them all out til you can find something that works for you.

genitor 04-01-2009 06:50 AM

wow your original picture (the first one you posted) actually is so cool... got me thinking about building something like that, except maybe a little bit further ahead for the winter, lol. Just so if I go into deep snow it will push the top off so that the wheels won't get stuck or whatever.
