tight diff.

I just got a new pp. The diff. is pretty tight and hardly push a wheel to rolling another wheel. Does anyone has the same case?

Do you mean that when you turn the one wheel that the other doesnt turn at all........when you turn one wheel the other should turn in the other direction.

yes correct. the right wheel turn in other direction when turn left wheel. But I notice it is pretty tight to turn. is it normal? does the diff. or bearing has some problem? For my other r/c car, it can turn few rounds when I push one wheel.

Does your car have the same problem? if yes, that mean my car is normal.

check your motor mesh if thats not it you have to take the right axle out, there is a allen head in there and you can addjust it that way, i would bet your motor mesh is to tight.

First i assume it is caused by the diff. Some people like to set their diff. to be tight or loose for some purpose like having higher acceleration or fast turning etc... How to determinate a diff. is a normal tight diff. or broken diff. ? I have another r/c car with ball diff. It also has a tight diff. Is ball diff. usually tighter than gear diff.?

If you take the balldiff out and look at one of the ends you can see the adjustment screw.......i tend to keep my front diff on the med side while the rear is a little lose then the front. Since you have the diff out you might as well clean and lubricate the small BB's thats on the main diff. I also break in my diffs with a dremel as well so you can see how tight or lose the diff is when you put that sucker back in there.

i had the diff. out there is so sticky inside.

rcvrally 02-16-2009 09:30 PM

i mean the grease inside the diff. is so sticky. That's why the diff is tight. loose the adjustment screw of the diff. can help a little. loose the screw too much 'd lose the function of the diff.

Then you might want to go to a lighter viscosity lube for the diffs.......
