I was wondering that myself. I mean we got Blinds batts that he lists, but then also have UnitedRC's Kans that he lists for like brushless and high end motors. I was also wondering like which of these would be best??

You cannot use URC's Kan batteries and Blind does not carry the CP-1700's. You can get 4/5SC from www.promatchracing.com/cpseries.htm and http://www.battlepack.com/loosecells.asp as well as a number of other online retailers. Look for CP-1700, made by Sanyo. They are an awesome cell and are the only cell designed to work in the kit. Well the CP-1300's work as well. But 2/3A cells are too small and will fall through the slots in the chassis! Or most likely they will sit so deep they would scrape on the ground. Just go with the CP-1700's. Google search it if you have to or just click here (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=sanyo+CP-1700).

i don't know about everyone else, but i am designing and building a very custom 540 of my very own. so with that said, why can't i use one of blinds 8 cell packs? (sorry, i am not an electrical guy..purely mechanical)

Well technically you could use any battery pack you want but performance will vary widely depending on the cell you use for the application. I am no expert so the terminology might be slightly off, but the major difference between say a stock micro, 300 micro, a 540 is obviously the size but also the draw the motor has on the battery. Technically I could run my touring car on a 4 cell duracell pack if I wanted but it wouldn't run well.

Generally the higher the mah rating the better. The size/type of the battery should suit the use. For a 540 you should run sub-c cells or the 4/5 sub-c. If your making your own custom chassis then you may want to pick up some 3300 cells and design around them. They would give you maximum run time.

What pack where you thinking of getting from blind. If you were talking about his regular micro brick packs they are sub-a flat cells and are only 1000 mah so they wouldn't be practicle. If you were talking about one of his cp packs that would be better but if your doing a serious chassis design then it would probably be better to just incorporate a regular sub-c into your design.;)
