Ok, this 280 is panning out to be worth using in the long run. And with racing starting up at my LHS, I'm not gonna run it longer than tomorrow's race.

So far I know 2 places to buy a Speed 300 motor. Hobby-Lobby and Electric Jet Factory.

I know 2 people who bought a motor from each place. One got the Speed 300 6V from Electric Jet Factory. He hasn't broken much on his micro, but says its pretty fast (with 4-cells). The other guy got his from Hobby Lobby and has melted gears, stripped gears, etc and he's running 4-cells also.

Here are pics of each one:

Electric Jet Factory:
(This is the picture they show on the page for the 300. The 300 they sell should look very similar to this though.)

Hobby-Lobby:
(The 300 from here DOES look like this...confirmed from the guy who bought his from Hobby-Lobby.)

What I need to know is this:
If you have either of these motors, and what you have broken from using it (or how well does it perform....same idea).

i considered getting a 300 but with the hpi mod, just for the same reason reading about breaking parts with a 300 and also modifying the motor plate.

I went through 2 front gear diffs. I then went to the HPI front one way and broke the diff housing. I now carry a replacement diff housing(the parts tree is about $6) to every race. Good luck

tc rcr - well, the speed is worth it from what I hear. Also, American Racing Models sells a motor plate for the 300s for $5

woody - yeah, I just talked to a friend of mine about his 300 (he got the electricjetfactory one) and he said he broke driveshafts and front diff gears.

I'm pretty much convinced now. I'm gonna order one so I can have it next week. Thanks guys

I've never even heard of ratazz.....but I have heard alot about ARM. 3 Le-Mans bodies, a pan style chassis, and 300 motor plate. And he was quick about shipment too.

I'd have to see what ratazz or whoever has.
