(great page! Lots of pictures)

(lots of text, good explanations, but no pictures :( )

Add more relevant links! Soon we'll be making custom shells instead of having to pay HPI ;-)

That's sweet... do you have the site you got it from?

I'm seriously considering getting into making this stuff. Gotta find some local sources for the lexan though.a

Scott,

Nice Thread.
I was on a Japanese Micro RS4 site and saw a neat McLaren Supercar custom Micro.
This guy bought a 1/18 scale die cast model and stripped it down so it was just the shell.
As most of these 1/18 die casts have opening doors and engine covers the recesses (door/bonnet gaps) were quite deep.
He filled it with clay and shaped the windscreen, side windows and rear window.
He left a slight recess in the front wheel arches so you can see them clearly and totally filled the rear wheelarches.
Once they clay had dried, he vacuum formed the bodyshell and it came out really neat, the lines were nice and detailed.
It looked phat :D

Sign shops often use sheet lexan, try them for sources Scott
