first time in MONTHS somebody wants to plan a micro race at SoCal (we ARE talking micro racing on the 5th, right?) and I have long standing plans for my brother's 40th birthday party.
Wish you guys all the best, I'll be thinking of you.

Other than the TC4, all the cars Karl mentioned are the big ones. I think AE's time is over for now. Every new car now is jumping on the 2-belt, electronics all on one side bandwagon.
Trinity Monster is still the stock motor of choice, 19T is mixed, and mod is mostly V2s.

I've got to groove, groove, groove,
And from this music
I just can't hide.

Are you comin' with me?
Come let me take you on a party ride

Don't wanna lose it
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie]
But you can't choose it
[It's electric

Hehe, well...
Friday lunch, drive up to Arcadia for a track invite, run, stay the night, and race again on Saturday, drive back down home, go out to a party, get home at around 1:30am.

Waking up at 5:30 didn't seem like the best idea at the time :p

man, ran the JBRL at socal this past weekend and all i have to say is DAMN! the top 10 in sportsman stock were just out of control. i ran my best time/laps there EVER and i qualified 11th by less than 1 second. then i just blew up in the b-main:( got too antsy at the 1 minute mark and kept on dotting out. this series race will definitely test you to see if you're in the right class. all you 1/10th scalers in the socal area, definitely check out jimmy's series. a lot of top notch drivers showing how it's done:eek:

1) make sure you file the last battery slot on the chassis right. get it so that the cell sits low, like the diagram on step a-01.

2) use the loctite

3) pre-thread the bulkheads

4) the upper decks may need to have the set-pin holes enlarged to fit flush, it'll be a tight fit.

5) on bag b, step b-04.. make sure to pre-thread the diff t-nut. it's the item next to the #2 in the digram

5) take your time building the lcd's / shocks.

6) battery setting (http://www.teamlosi.com/jrxs-page/trick%20tip%20pg1.htm)

7) look both ways before you cross the street

i just saw their motors in the magazine,, i was wondering the same thing,, if they are any good,, and are the prices right... looking for something to blow the socks off my new xtm (associated tranny) xcellerator... with 81/22 gearing im looking for a fast motor with power,, currently running a reedy quad 19t,, and a chameleon2,,, will be going to the track to try out my pinion gearing.. SOCAL on thursday night is where im at..

have to replace chassis though,,, my car was going full speed when a garage jumped in front of it,, the bad thing about it is that the car was airborn and i was unable to control it,, head collision,, front chassis snapped,,

good thing no feet were invlolved.. :(

karlo511
05-04-2005, 04:25 PM
you have to gear for the track. whatever you have to go back and forth on your street most likely won't work on the track. also, you can't gear those two motors the same.

jaejw1
05-04-2005, 04:31 PM
i know,, and i havent run the chameleon,, just the quad 19t,, but i have plenty of pinions to keep me busy,, just likee i had to find out the right combo for street bashing.. http://www.yourmicro.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16594

i will do the same at the track,, starting with my current 22 pinion,, and working my way down,, and taking notes,,

Karl how is that DC 19T with those everlast brushes?

karlo511
05-04-2005, 05:02 PM
that motor just rips! it's a kr teardown but with curtis' ultra-light arm and wind. it's hard to explain but it's a totally different. you could also just buy the arm (the big comm version) and throw it in a reedy quad. the everlast brushes, or trinity lemans xxx, are pretty good so far. i've been running the same set in a practice stock motor for a while now just to see and it actually shines up the comm and shows minimal wear run after run.

Karl, your "trick" about the V2 endbell, is that for performance, or just convenience? Either way, I want to know :D

karlo511
05-10-2005, 10:41 PM
i was looking at greg hodap's endbell and he dremeled out the space between the rings, leaving enough to keep the structural integrity. i don't know if you want to try it, but he said it made a big difference with the temp. and we all know a cooler motor is .... you know, cooler :p i asked some of the orion guys at socal and they said that endbell is pretty dialed. there's not much more to do to it besides the springs and brushes. taking a dremel to it might not be worth the trouble, unless you get them for free from kitrick racing.:D
oh yeah, the jrx-s is sooooooo dialed ;)

hpidriver
05-10-2005, 11:33 PM
Yeah, I'm not going to bother with that :P
The V2 is a pretty sweet motor, I was just testing it out at Hobby Central, and it had plenty of power with the other 19's, and that was with just the stock brushes and hobo springs ;)

Intelligentsia
05-11-2005, 09:25 AM
Karl do you hardwire your cells on the JRX? If so, what did you do for belt clearance?

I e-mailed you regarding this but again I assume that you did not receive it... Or you are just too professional to answer such a simple question ;)

karlo511
05-11-2005, 10:47 AM
i hard-wired it. the best bars i've found to use are the trinity ones, they're really thin. but i guess any thin one will do.
Trinity bars (http://www.teamlosi.com/jrxs-page/misc%20pics/battery-1.jpg)

or you can use corally style plugs:
corally style (http://www.jrxs.net/forums/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=37)

just angle the bars so they clear the pulleys and can easily go up into the car. the back slot has to be filed down enough to get everything to fit right. if the tray bulges out a tiny bit when the pack is in, charge a pack so that it is warm, put it in and set the car upside down for a while or just run it. the heat should soften up the foam enough so that it takes the shape of the cells.

Intelligentsia
05-11-2005, 11:16 AM
Where can I get the Corally style plugs? Do you know if those Fusion Power battery bars will work? You know, the ones with the heat sink?

I still haven't opened the box and just want to know the answers to potential issues so that I don't need to figure them out and waste a bunch of unnecessary time.

Thanks

karlo511
05-11-2005, 11:32 AM
these are what people are using:
Trinity R-Minus (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTJ26&P=7)

don't know about the fusion bars, they look too big. right now the bars i have on my packs are deans pro 3's and trinity silver watt bars. there's just enough clearance from the belts and pulleys. the smc's also work
SMC (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCMC2&P=7)

I drove the car for a bit and the car is sooo responsive has tons of steering but we will see how it is on the track.

Nope, I was up late the night before (morning actually) so I didn't leave until almost 7:30. I didn't get to practice, so my first 2 heats were my first 2 runs :(
It was fun though.
Oh yeah, and Frank gave me some body :D

:(

My car did not work a single race. I bought a brand new radio, but something is wrong with it... Either the radio or receiver is faulty. I did not finish a single race. It's funny because during practice my car worked flawlessly and was so fast. I didn't get passed by a single car the whole time I ran it! Two people asked me if I was running 19T lol... If my car was working, I definitely would have won my class. But all of that is irrelevant.

Anyway, HPI's car looked pretty good. He overheated his tires or something in the first round because he couldn't take the sweeper without spinning out. It looked really good in the main but he took himself out. He was up against some pretty formidable opposition in the 19T a main. I was proud of him lol. Even with all of the problems that the two of us had, it still was a good time.

They also had two heats of micro (only one actual car). There was only person who was fast so the class was not super interesting. We can keep the micro class alive and stomp on all of those trucks if you want to :D

good to hear the car itself is working (Team Losi:D)
francis just needs to get some tires with the right temperature ratings instead of the box-o-take offs.:p

micros.... they're retired and collecting dust.

Yeah man... I wish you were there. My first setup and the car was dialed! I had steering to spare even with the front spool! I don't know if I even want the oneway anymore :D

I am getting rid of the stock receiver and module and upgrading to the Spektrum. I have had problems since day one with the receiver that's in the car. You saw it so you know my problems!

I let Francis use my RP30's and of course I didn't get them back lol.

CS27
RP30

36r = 96' - 151'
rp30 = 50' - 122'
cs27 = 50' - 113'

all depends on inserts too;)

Intelligentsia

Hey Karl, I think that Francis is afraid of the 36R's. Just like he is afraid to run his Novak Spy esc with six cells and a Speed 300 it's just too much for him!

ask steve if he still has his combos. it was usually cheaper to get tires/inserts/wheels. i don't know if he still offers it.

Do you know the difference between that and this?

One is the GL and the other is the GLR

I hope that Tony enters it so we can see the 18T up against the M18.

I was going to build up another M18 for this race but EITS never sent me a chassis.

I got my red Integy Setup Station 2 today!
