View Full Version : Just finished TLT....very happy :D
Hi all,
Just finished my TLT thought you might like a look.
Locked all the diffs...centre diff locked using Traxxas slipper pegs, front and rear diffs stuffed with "blu Tac" works a treat!!:)
Made the little wing on the rear using an off cut off lexan when trimming the body and doublesided taped it on!!
Build my own batt pack from a standard 7,2v 3000mAh stick pack and located front and rear, the body sits nice and low too!! :D
This little beast is so much fun, even with the pack split front and rear, I can still flip it in a wheely off the line, and thats with a standard 540 motor.....sweet!!

Hey Mat,
I like your battery pack and your paint scheme. The pinstriping aound everything is sweet. I also like how the white comes up to the hood around the fender.
Nice job. So far, until I get mine done...yours is my favorite. :D
Hey wicket75,
Thanks for the kind words :D
It's my first go at masking a body, it was very fiddly too!!
When someone likes the work you've done, it makes all those hours swearing and cursing worth while.
Many thanks

Very nice set up you got going there! I like the split pack idea alot!
And that body looks really good!!!
Nice Job!
Cheers for the nice comments :D
The split pack is working sweet, me being a tight @rse, i'm NOT paying £30 from the 1700mAH pack when i can buy 2 x 3000mAH packs for the same price!! LOL
Just takes about 1/2 hrs work to disassemble a stick pack and make the split pack.....last longer, body sits lower, even weight distribution and cheaper.....can't go wrong!!

kit came with a motor?? i thought it didnt come with any electronics
Yeah!! I know, that's what I thought to?!? But there was one in the box!!!
Maybe Tamiya thought the price was to high not to include a motor....or I was just a lucky fekker!!!!! :D

what did u do to the stick pack to get that configuration?? did u just take it apart and solder it back together like that??
Yeah i did, first i took apart a dead Nicad pack to see how they were made.
Then went ahead a sacificed a new 3000mAh stick pack.
There is a metal band between each cell, which you can unbend and cut with snips.
Bend the remaining bit of band back over on to the cell and flatten it.
I coverd each cell with a bit of heatshrink tubeing...incase of shorts
Give the band a little bit of sanding so the solder will stick.
Once finished soldering I covered the hole pack with heatshrink tubeing.
This will be a lot easier with tagged single cells mind.
Hope this is of some help!

Looks great! :) I like the paint scheme - simple and clean.
How well does it turn w/ all three diffs locked and no rear steering servo? I'm in the process of building mine; I pegged the center diff, JB Weld'ed the axle diffs, and am hoping to get away w/ not installing a rear servo. ;) My TLT will only be used for crawling so high-speed handling isn't a concern.
My 1:1 scale rig doesn't turn too well w/ both air lockers engaged, and I'm wondering how the 1:18 version will do.
Thanks,
- Chris
Csnyder.....thanks :)
The turning isnt to bad with all the diffs locked, I've only run in my living room at the mo so i only have about 3 foot walkways between furniture. So i do need to do a couple of 3 point turns!!
When shoe crawling though! it doesnt seem to matter anyway!!
I'm going to add a rear sevo prob by the weekend just to see what its like, i dont think it's a big deal to add after the TLT is built.
You'll have a blast !!
