Well, if you want to spend $60 on a piece of junk, go ahead. I tried 3 different V3R's and could not get them to work. I couldn't get them to set up. I tried removing the capacitors from the motor. No luck. I tried e-mailing GM and they said they did not offer support on that ESC. I tried it with the stock and mod motor, and tried it with 4, 5, and 6 cells.

You're better off getting a Futaba MC230 or a LRP Quantum Reverse.

I want the LRP but it cost alot and will only go to 36 turns. I think and the futaba is preatty heavy and will only take 6 or 7 cells and I want to be able to use stock battery pack as a backup. I may end up with the LRP, it seems really nice.

I use the LRP. The turn rating makes no difference in these cars.

I wondered why there is a V3R that has been sitting in the case for ever at the LHS.Usually cheap priced ESCs sell fast. Say how you really feel Cosmo. LOL

IMHO as Cosmo stated, you will be better served with a MC230CR or for $85 the Quantum Reverse. Own them both and satisified. If you will be just playing around don't even bother with the Quantum save your $$$ for spare parts when you hit the wall/dog/cat/mom.:)

does anyone know the resistance of the orion flash? I really don't want to spend 90 bucks, but I would be fine spending 50. I also need to get a set of bearings, aluminum dogbones, and a front ball diff. so that's at least another 100 plus shipping.

Odd, my GM V3R works perfectly fine. For stock motor you will get a long delay before it starts moving (if it moves). All you have to do is cut the caps and its good as gold. All other motors work fine.

A guy at one of my LHSs was using the same thing with an HPI Micro mod. Worked great in his and was fast.

If you don't need reverse, I used a Duratrax Streak in mine and it worked great.

I had the same problem with the GMV3R. It would not work.
Someone told me the stock motor did not draw enough amps,
but I just know the LRP works great. I am new to micro racing but I love this car- I am running stock motor and all stock parts and
have not had a failure. Great Car!!

I'm using the LRP Quantum Sport and it works like a dream in mine with 6 cells or 4 cells. Of course don't think I'll ever run 4 cells again but for the guys that do it works really well.
