I am using a great planes C-30, It cost me 40.00 and can run up to 10 cells. The only thing you have to do is dial in some neg. epa so the brakes don't apply in the neutral position. Here is a pic, it's hard to see but it's between the black batteries and the receiver.

why use the C-30 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXUR96&P=0) when the
C-20 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXUR95&P=0) is smaller and has enough power. the C-10 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXUR94&P=0) is the smallest, has enough power. It allso alread has the micro plugs. only problem is it has no brake.

I got the C-30 at my lhs, They didn't have the others at the time so thats why I opted for the C-30. It does have a switch, you can see it in the picture, it's right above the batteries on the right side.

Quick question about your ESC:

You said something about disabling the Neutral brakes thing....Is it easy to do this?

Thanks.

At zero throttle, the brake activates on the C-30. I've tested it by running full throttle and then letting go of the trigger, and comparing it to just turning the reciever off. You need a tiny bit of on throttle to coast. Might want to use a little negative EPA if you like to coast for some reason...

a guy who works at the hobby shop uses an airplane esc. brakes will be a problem since it dosnt have porportional brakes

It won't be a problem if you learn how to drive it! Hehe. But I can see how it is difficult (I tried using the brake and it's pretty hard. You must have a light touch/quick finger with it.)

I agree. I'm stuck with a Novak T1 right now, and the brakes are pretty much just on or off...

Methinks i'm going to indulge in a novak XXL, and C-20...
