View Full Version : What about this brushless motor?

This is mainly for all you brushless experts out there. I'm considering building up a brushless micro, and saw this motor: http://hobby-lobby.com/model_motors.htm
How is it? I read that it was 3800 rpm/v which is fast enough. And what about the controller they recommend for it: the Jeti 18-3P? I am also looking at the Hacker B20 12L and the Hacker 18-3P controller (same as the Jeti?) Anyways, I'm leaning towards the first one because total it costs under $200. Any input or help would be appreciated.

bump..no one helping you..hehe..well i heard it was a ok motor. i would recommend the hacker and a hacker mini car esc.

its goes to say "you get what you paid for" also i head something
bad about the CF can..if its really cf..it wont disapate the heat..or something like that..but go for it..hehe..also if you want a fast micro rs4 and not a micro rocket...goto
www.wildhobbies.com <-- might have to do a search..its either wildbhobbies.com or wildhobby.com..

they have a physco micro running astro flight brushless and they have video also..so you can see how fast it was.. on that note they said they could incress the speed a bit more but didnt have a larger pinion..

You need a controller with car software. Like the Schulze 11.30e, Hacker Master Car-Mini, or the up and coming Mamba. The ones you are referencing will not perform as desired and in the end will make you want to shoot yourself for spending the money.

As for the motor, it is not made of carbon fiber but rather a carbon fiber sticker. I have heard good things about the motor, but only in aircraft use. I might purchase it to add to my collection.

Good Luck and if I do purchase it I will give a review.

They don't have that many rpm/V and this means more cells for the same performance as with MP Jet just with 6 cells - here you already have the performance everybody just dreams of. And Mini AC are almost 20 USD more expensive than MP Jet motors....

But I agree, if you are looking for all around, good, drivable motors Model Motors are better choice. Untill MP Jet comes with milder winds ...

What I think could be really nice, would be such mini BL motor with normal ferrite magnets. Like speed 300 performance, but much better efficiency and very affordable price (like 40 USD). And some very cheap BL ESC but with good car software, so the combo could cost about 100 USD.

My recommendation would be a Hacker B20 22S motor (4000 rpm/v), and Hacker Mini car controller.

Not that much more than your stated $200 system, but you get the great Hacker USA customer service. If things go wrong you will appreciate this aspect...

This combination will be much faster than a speed 300 while still keeping the car drivable.

If you just want to do insane speed runs, then just substitude with a hacker B20 12L motor (4600 rpm/v).

Good luck.

So how about these: http://hackerbrushless.com/controllers.shtml
Would I be fine with the 18A controller, or should I get the 30A? I would probably be using the B20/22S or the B20/12L .

So how is that different from the ones on the Hacker page? Are they not as smooth or something? I'm still vaguely confused.

this is the same as the one from hacker web page..
but i couldnt finde the mini car controller

the diffrent is most bl controller are for either boats or plane.
with either dont have reverse or no brake. with the car unit it has brake's.. if you read the phyco miroc from wildhobbies.com the esc/bl is for plane's and on the micro theres no brake or reverse.

i think the only main diffrent is that the mini car controller is setup to be run on cars with brake and reverse while the other one just has forward...

with either full foward or proportional forward.. diffrent is 1 is like on/off.. either full speed or no speed, the other one is like what we have in rc now..you can go any speed from no speed to full speed.

i running a schultz 12.97 and its can be program for *air, water, ground
*brake,no brake, or reverse with brake/delay so it brake before going to reverse.
4 Timing mode so it can be use with any bl motor

Here is another site I found, how are these: http://www.b-p-p.com/brushless_esc.htm

So I just need an esc that has brake, adjustable tming, adjustable frequency, and adjustable/exponential throttle?
So I was thinking of the CC Phoenix: http://www.leisurelectronics.com/controllers.htm

yeah..match that with the razor bl motor..i think somewhere that was going to be the bl combo design for the micro..but stock on the item keeps on running out..so getting a combo of it would be hard....thats what i heard at least.. do a search on Razor bl
and you'll find some info on it.
