I suggest carpet, we run on Ozite which is what most of the big races are run on I guess (so I have been told). The carpet we have is over a year old and holds up good and consistent. Our track is about 36 x 50 and wotks out good for the micro's and mini-t's.

We use boards and 4" garden edging around perimeter

The minimum lane width should be 3 feet. Thats our rule in Indianapolis. Anything smaller than that and it would be a crash fest.

We are keeping the lanes at 4' because we have a lot of beginners and it can become a nightmare to marshall with all the jumps and tangle-ups. It forces the track to be more basic but allows the trucks to reach maximum speed easily for the jumps.

Check out www.roaddome.com Thats what we use at our track. You can smack these walls hard and not do any damage.
