View Full Version : Diff or One-way on short track

We run on a very short track with lots of sharp turns. Is it better to have a one-way or diff. I would think the diff would be better because the front end would be used for braking. I bought my car used with the one-way installed.
Should I convert back to the stock diff?
What is the advantage of the one-way?
Thanks

The one way has 2 advantages, its faster on sweeping corners and its faster on off power steering. Its main disadvantage is braking. I run with the one way though and find the braking problem very mild from when I ran a one way in 10th scale cars.

It depends on the track. If the track has a lot of traction, I like a one way. If it is medium or low traction, I like a front diff.

The other key that most people forget is their driving style. If I like a one-way on a certain track the next guy may not. There's only one way to know for sure, try them both yourself.

I prefer a oneway regardless of track or traction conditions. I hate gear diffs because they apply power to the wheel with the least traction.

One way, all the way. Unless of course you get a front ball diff;)

The new front ball diff will act in the same manor as the stock front gear diff. However it will have advantages in the fact that it should be smoother and it should be stronger.
