I haven't run my car yet and was just wondering if I need to treat all the screws that go into aluminum, with threadlock or not. I also have one more issue: The top side of my belt rubs the base of my pinion gear. The pinion gear's set screw protrudes just enough to cause rubbing and I was just wondering what you guys suggest. By the way I am running a 31t pinion.

Is that assuming your pinion has the set screw side in? Flip it around so the set screw side is out. Depending on your motor and the length of the shaft, it should fit fine. All of mine do.

I didn't thread lock any of my stuff, and it's held together through over 10 runs of hell.

It's always a good idea to treat all metal to metal connections with threadlock.
Concerning the set screw problem , i'd first make sure you are hitting the flat spot with the set screw.

Next if you already hitting the flatspot, i'd try and find a shorter screw.

If thats not possible i'd try and make a smaller set screw using a bench grinder and a pair of needle nose pliers to hold the set screw with.

If all else fails i'd CAREFULLY sand the flat spot down a touch more so the set screw doesn't protrude. just remember you can possibly weaken your shaft if you sand it to much on the flat spot so ONLY resort to that as a LAST ditch effort.

Hope this Helps

Thanks guys, I was trying to think of a way to sand down the set screw, but figured I would end up losing it. I'll just sand the flat spot of the shaft down until the set screw goes all the way in. I guess I have one more mod to do. It's Dremel Time

Not to be insulting but are you ABSOULTLY sure you have the screw pointed the right way.

Just make sure before you go sanding down stuff.

Yes it is on the right side. I was talking about like a 1/16th of an inch. I got it fixed though.
