Dirt at Ultra

Since there's at least 3 of us running dirt this summer I figured I'd start a new thread.

Is anyone planning to practice on friday? Prefferably friday morning.

I won't be out there on Friday morning... if the family cuts out of town then I'll try and be there Friday evening... gotta glue up some tires tonite and make up some batts too..

For my first time, I raced 1/10 sedan last nite, and I can safely tell you all track records are safe! LOL... ask Josh, it wasn't pretty... I just tried to stay outta other's way, but it was a blast, even if I was last!!

I had a blast racing offroad Saturday night. For my first time running offroad I qualified 4th in the A. Although I didn't do to well in the main.(finished 6th) I was in 2nd for alot of the race. Then is got dark and I caouldn't see. I'll be there this saturday again for the night race.

Well guys, I guess you missed the racing today. We had a great time and it's ashame that you missed it.

The multiple flooded areas provided a great place to race my micro boat on the track and the lake on top of the mountain provided an eye level view of your boat in order to make sure it wasn't sinking to far down at speed. Oh yeah, we also found that by sealing all the holes in the bed of a pickup truck we could create a killer track.

Planning on buying some tomorrow... I loosen the rear shocks up abit, and that helped some... but was tilted alot when getting air on the table top...

What type of connectors you using ? Really I'm looking for MORE batteries because I'm going to start running and we only have 4 2000 packs , not enough for two people to race. :)

I used to run the lightspeed connectors but in dirt they would come apart after a hard landing so now I strait solder everything. Although the the trinity and corraly bullet style connectors are really nice and no loss so you can use them on the motors also.

You guys need to show up regardless of the rain. That way if it rains we can all go up to believers and run indoor on sunday night.

My bad, saturday night. Yeah it's an indoor electric track in lebanon on fujitech drive which is 2 exits past kings island. Yes it is an indoor track. They start at 4 but I'll sign you guys up if you call me or something.

Last weekend I had a perfect wheel to wheel bump with someone that was I lap down and wanting to play but ended up in the tubes. Hahahahahaha

Those bumps, hills and cliffs seem to even things out a lot , from what I've seen. It looks like he who crashes the least will be up front at the end.:cool: Better bring those glow sticks for the late race.:D

Sorry but I've got to work tonight. Sat. night went well for me. I tq'd and won electric and gas with a new record in stock truck of a 14/5:15 which is like a full lap better than the previous record.

Also, I've ventured into nitro... 1/8 scale buggy baby!! it's in pieces now, but hopefully by the end of the month I'll have it together and running....

IT's called Simple Green. A bio-degradable cleaner. Most people use a small amount in their laundry or for spot cleaning, I put a small amount in a spray bottle and fill up with water, GREAT for cleanng tires, just like new when your done, even a little sticky.

Potter- I personally have ran in Columbus once about 2 years ago. The track is really nice and I had a good time but all of us on the forum here are heavy into on-road and only doing this dirt thing to pass the summer months right now. I will however be running the BIG gas race this winter in Columbus.

Have you ever ran down at Ultra? The website is www.rccaronline.com and it's a really good time despite the choice of music through practice.

Did you hear that believers has closed shop guys? I found out last night when they told me it was there last day of buisness. This means that we don't have any rainout track other than x-dome and indy. Doesn't that suck.

Went to the track tonite... all the heats were ran but only the main for the stock trucks was raced... then the storm set in. I was leading til the half way point.. then just blew it... LOL it was fun... considering I didn't finish any of the heats...

No go on the B4, the guy turned out to be a totall scammer... fortunately, I was able to cancel shipment in time and my stuff back on it's way to KY.

You missed some good racing Microjunke. Josh barely edged Joe Dowers out in stock truck by just a couple feet and then myself and Jake Delano battled it out in mod Buggy.

A bunch of us went out to the X-dome yesterday and the track is pretty nice. The only complaint is it's not a stock track by any means and is built by and for the 1/8th scale guys.

Anyway back on track I was screwing around with the buggy and tried blue front springs with the silver in the back. It made the buggy a lot more consistent off throttle because it didn't snap in so hard. It also jumped a lot flatter and farther, I almost cleared the triple without trying in the beginning of the main.

Yeah, the blue springs are 2 steps stiffer than the green.

This is Hobbyman:Saturday only for us, Josh has to work tomorrow nite. Rtolle , are they only running the early session in dirt on Sat's in Sept. ? What are you going to run on carpet ? F1? what days will they be racing F1's? Are Micro's done?

Ok guys heres the deal. The F1 will be run on monday nights along with legends. They will be run on the roadcourse. Wensday night is still roadcourse and I guess our micro night also unless you would rather change the micro to Sunday. I propose a change in rules for the micro's. Lets go to 6-cell with the standard hpi or orion mod and drop the time to 6 minutes in order to be closer to everyone else's rules and maybe we'll get some more guys running. But let's start the year with 6-cell stock to get people in and then once we get more guys then go to modifieds.

Also with the road dome system we may be able to run a much smaller track than in the past because it's easy to change the layouts.

We've been trying to gat a "Stock" class going here at So Cal. We are looking for an inexpensive and cost effective class that is speedier than box stock and not as scarry fast as our active "Open" class (generally 6 cell/300 motor). Right now we plan to offer the option of 4 cell/300, 5 cell/HPI mod or 6 cell/HPI stock motor. We think these whoud run pretty close. I'd appreciate your input. You can email me so we don't plug the board up with somewhat off topic stuff.

BTW RTolle, how do you gear your 4 cell/300 motored ride?
