hi i got the hpi mod and i was wondering if i have to buy a steel pinion and if i have to i noticed that they all have set screws and the shaft on the hpi has no flat spot so do i have to glu it on or make a flat spot

no you do not need to use steel pinion gears, and you just jam the plastic ones on or if you use the steel ones u just screw it on as if there were a flat spot

Yep, no need for a flat spot, just tighten it anywhere and it will hold just fine.

If you have a problem spinning off the plastic ones, you can put a dab of CA (super glue) in the pinion just before you mount it.

and what size should the pinion be if i want high top speed but i dont want to overgear it cuz i want it to last
