LRP IPC Pro Sport

Hey is there anyone using a lRP IPC Pro sport? If so what is with the "schottly diodes"? I'm new to the electric stuff. I'm running an Orion Elite Modified with a 6v 1100mAh Ni-MH battery pack. Should I using this diode?
