I just recieved my HT-55 servo today. I read somewhere that this needs to be regeared with the stock servo gears. Is this necessary? Does anyone know why this might have to be done?
Thanks for the help.

Only if you plan to use the stock esc/reciever combo wich reqiures a four wire connection.

Or you might be referring to the "trick" of swapping out a few of the gears so you can continue to use the stock servo-saver.

Not.
One option with the HS-55 is to replace the top two gears of the 55 with the stock gears from the Micro-T, what this does is allow you to use the Micro-T feed horn/servo saver without further modification.
The alternatives are to either scrap the servo saver and make your own feed horn, or to file down the connecting end of the servo to fit into the hexagon shaped slot of the Micro-T feed horn/servo saver piece.
If for some unknown reason you wished to use the HS-55 with the stock electronics as hockeypux19 seems to be refering to you would also have to remove the 55’s internal circuit board and wire the motor and potentiometer directly too the Micro-T circuit board just like stock 5 wire servo is, in adition to either replace or modify the gears, or make your own feedhorn.

Thanks for all of the good info.
I have a Tekin reciever coming that will work. I plan on using the stock servo saver, as I do think it's necessary. I'll look at exactly what needs to be modified to make this work.
The good news is that I have a rapid prototyping machine that can print out plastic parts. I might just reverse engineer the part and make one that fits without any modification.

Has anybody modded the stock esc/rx to run a three wire servo without modding the servo?
