Will all that voltage harm or break my servo or receiver? Is there something I need to buy to regulate the voltage? I'm thinking of using a 27mhz am, or buy a spektrum DX2. My question came up because if I do end up getting a spektrum and burn out the receiver, its not that cheap to get a new one. Thanks in advance!

The servo is regulated by the rx, so you shouldnt have a problem burning it up......I know that the servo can take up too 6volts and as for the esc your good there also.:p If you take a look at the servos specs you should be fine, theres a minimum voltage and theres the max voltage right on the box of the servo......if you dont have the box anymore then just look it up online.

Alright, looks like my servo takes 4.8-6.0 volts. So all receivers regulate the voltage? I've been looking around and some say they have BEC, what is that about?

it stands for battery eliminator circuit...........:D

yea, I read that, but what does that do? Is that what regulates the voltage to the servo and in the receiver? I see that not all receivers have BEC.

This is an excerpt from the RC universe review of the DX3

"I should point out that, unlike the RS300 receiver that comes with the JR XS3, the SR3000 receiver that comes with the Spektrum package does not have a BEC built into it. In the aspect of servo performance, this is a good thing. The RS300 cut the voltage to the servos down to 4.8 volts, hindering their overall performance. The SR3000 does not, and can function at power levels up to 9.6 volts. However, with an electric powered RC vehicle you'll want to keep this in mind and make sure your speed control provides a BEC circuit to avoid damaging your servos. You shouldn't find this to be a problem though, as most speed controls do."

This what I read that got me worried about possibly damaging the servo or receiver. Did I read that part right, or am I missing something?

By the way, if it matters, heres the other electronics i'll be using

3s li-po
quark 33 amp esc
Wraith 7k

Battery eliminator circuit- it eliminates the use of an extra battery to power the rx and servo's.......so this way the main battery can power the rx and servos.:D Well just to let you know that most esc's also regulate the voltage to the rx and such......you just need to read up on your esc's specs.

I just read the quark has Has a 5V/3A BEC built in. So I should be ok with a spektrum receiver and servo without problems?

yupper it will be okay.....you shouldnt have any problems with that combo.
